Peugeot 208 - excessive smoke from exhaust, failed MOT due to emissions, excessive oil consumption.

Quick way to check for this problem if you own a vehicle with this engine.

Hold your foot on the accelerator pedal to the limiter for a couple of seconds and check for smoke from the exhaust.

Due to this engine being a direct injection engine it significantly increases the amount of soot, in turn your piston rings get stuck which allows oil into the cylinders.

During this engine rebuild you get -

Peugeot 2008 FULL ENGINE REBUILD 🔧

Wetbelt engine usual case of oil starvation due to the oil pump clogging up.
Full strip down and found the bearings had spun.
Block sent off for a line bore and crank polish, new bearings sized up.
New piston rings and seals all round.
Back together and good as new ✅

Reminder to always fill your car with coolant⛔️

This customer had a coolant leak from the water pump, refilling with water when it went low.
With the cold weather the water froze and the water pump was unable to move causing the belt to over heat. Luckily enough there wasn’t any damage.

Genuine belt and water pump replaced with fresh coolant. ✅
