It's Monday and it's time for the Purple Cow tip of the week, yes I know I've missed a few!

If your car makes a metallic rattle while idling, it’s often just a loose heat shield vibrating on the exhaust.

It sounds dramatic, but it’s usually a quick, inexpensive fix, a couple of clips or bolts and it’s sorted.If you hear a rattle like a tin can under the car, give me a shout and I’ll check it’s nothing more serious.

It's Monday again so time for the Tip of the Week:

“Check Your Cabin Filter Before Hay fever Season Hits”

If your car feels stuffy or your hayfever’s kicking off early, your cabin filter might be the culprit. It traps pollen, dust and road muck - but once it clogs, it’s basically a compost bin behind your dashboard. A quick swap makes a huge difference to airflow and freshness. If you’re not sure where yours lives, I can check it while I’m passing.

Job of the Week: The Rusty Surprise (Van Edition)

This week’s “oh brilliant…” moment came courtesy of a van brake pipe that had rusted itself into oblivion.
MOT tester took one look and said: absolutely not.

So out came the pipe bender and flaring kit, and I built a fresh copper brake pipe from scratch - bent, flared, fitted, and bled.
A proper bit of hands‑on fabrication, and the van’s now stopping exactly how it should.

If your MOT has flagged something crusty underneath, or your van’s looking a bit worse for wear, give me a shout - I’ve probably seen worse.

Good morning it's Monday so it's time for the purple cow's tip of the Week: Keep It Simple, Keep It Running

A quick weekly once‑over can save you a breakdown.
Just check these three things:
🐮 Oil level, low oil = expensive engine wear
🐮 Tyre pressures - better grip, better fuel economy
🐮 Screenwash - because bugs don’t clean themselves

Takes under two minutes, keeps your car happy, and avoids those “why today of all days” moments.

Job of the Week: Something a Bit Different!

Not every day is spent under a car bonnet…
This week I got to mix things up a bit with a job you definitely don’t see on the average driveway.

A full service on a quad bike followed by a repair on an ATV topper, a proper countryside combo.
Bit of elbow grease, bit of problem‑solving… right up my street.

I love jobs like this. Keeps things interesting and reminds me why I enjoy being a mobile mechanic, you never know what you’re pulling up to next.

The bank holiday has gone so it's time for my tip of the week.

Tip of the Week: Don’t Ignore the Little Noises

If your car suddenly starts making a new noise, a rattle, squeak, knock or whine - don’t wait for it to “go away” or just turn the summer tunes up!

Those tiny noises are often early warnings for quick, cheap fixes. Leave them too long and they can turn into big, expensive problems.

If something doesn’t sound right, give me a shout and I’ll take a listen.
Sometimes it’s nothing… sometimes it saves you a fortune.
