AA are preparing for a 30-40% increase in workload on Monday as people return to work. They advise you to get your vehicle running now: check battery, tyres, coolant, oil, etc to help prevent issues. They're expecting lots of battery and tyre faults and advise tyre treads to be 3mm across the tyre to be effective in winter weather. Read our advice here :)

Do you own a Ford, Vauxhall, Citroen or Peugeot and the oil pressure light is illuminated.

If so, it's highly probable that your oil pump belt or wet belt (internal cam belt) is failing.

Our advice would be to stop the car immediately and have it recovered to a reputable garage capable of this repair.

The images from a recent repair we've carried out show the belt with no teeth to turn the oil pump, in the orange glove are the detached teeth and finally the debris from the deteriorating belt which blocks the oil strainer.

Fortunately, our customer stopped the car, had he continued, he would have required a new engine!

RECALL: CITROEN C3 AND DS3 2009-2016

We would like to draw your urgent attention to a major safety recall issued by Stellantis UK affecting certain Citroën vehicles.

An immediate stop-drive action has been announced for second-generation Citroën C3 vehicles and Citroën DS 3 vehicles, both manufactured between 2009 and 2016, that are equipped with Takata airbags.

Vehicle owners have been instructed to immediately stop driving these vehicles due to a critical safety risk associated with the airbags.

All affected customers will be contacted by letter. Stellantis has provided a VIN check tool for owners to verify whether their vehicle is impacted and to obtain guidance on next steps:

If selling a motorised vehicle on Social media and/or local publications, please be aware of a new vehicle scum, whereby the seller is approached by would be buyers wanting to inspect the vehicle.

Generally 2 or 3 people will turn up and while the seller is distracted, a member of the group might use a liquid substance on the engine.

If the vehicle is than taken for a quick test drive, the engine will start to produce smoke. The buyer will than try to purchase the vehicle at a discounted prices as the vehicle is “faulty”.
