It is well acknowledged that absenteeism increases during major sporting events. With the delayed Euros now taking place it is an opportune time to review your absence processes. To support your business they need to be clear and help you to resolve ongoing issues and must obviously comply with employment legislation.

The recent removal of Portugal from the government's green travel list has highlighted the need for employers and employees to properly communicate and plan annual leave. Two big decisions for employers to make - will you support travel to an amber country and if so how will the isolation period on return be classed? Will the employee need to take additional annual leave or unpaid leave or could they work remotely whilst isolating? If an employee is travelling to a green list country will you ask them to book additional leave to cover any prospect of it being changed to amber? Can you plan for such an eventuality in a different way?
Lots to think about. For any advice or support please email [email protected] or call 07835 964699.

A reminder that even if you or your employees have lived int he UK for many years or have a permanent residence document you still need to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme by the end of this month.
No need to do this if you have permanent leave to remain in the UK.
Please feel free to contact me if you need any more information.

With the government providing greater detail in terms of foreign travel it looks like we will be all systems go to travel to lots of places over the summer.
What are your plans if staff need to isolate on their return? Will they be able to work from home or will they need to take additional annual or unpaid leave?
Now is the time to let your staff know what they will need to do so that everyone is clear and avoid issues later. The best way to do this is by direct communication and by updating your leave policy. For any help email [email protected] or call 07835 964699

With many children returning to school today, lots of parents will be feeling relieved at the start of a return to normality. For some though, it may increase their feelings of isolation, put additional pressure on them balancing work and home lives or increase their anxieties about catching Covid.
Let's make a special effort today to not assume everyone is ok and ask those simple questions to double check. It could make a huge difference.
