Booking your driving test? Make sure you’re doing it the right way. ✅

Since 12 May, it has been against the law for anyone but the learner driver to book a driving test. Using unofficial apps, bots or automated tools also breaks the terms and conditions of our booking service.

We've already cancelled 450 tests where tests have been booked outside the new rules – and we're continuing to monitor activity closely. 💪

If misuse of the booking system is identified, we can cancel your booking and suspend your ability to manage your test online.

Our priority is to make the system fair for every learner and to stop you being exploited by third parties. The only way to book and manage a test is through GOV.UK. 💻

Motorcyclists are far more exposed than car drivers. In a collision, there’s no vehicle body, airbags, or seatbelt to absorb impact—your body takes the force directly.

Proper gear (helmet, jacket, gloves, trousers, boots) protects against:

Head injuries (the most common cause of motorcycle fatalities)
Road rash (skin abrasions from sliding on tarmac)
Broken bones and joint injuries

A helmet alone is estimated to reduce the risk of death by around 40% and serious head injury by even more.

At biker meets we attend The Piston Club we are pleased to see the majority of bikers wearing full protective gear. However, we have been disappointed to see some in shorts, t shirts and vests in the recent hot weather. These would offer no protection, even at low speeds.

Changes to driving test booking happening today. ⚠️

From today (9 June), if you move your driving test, you can only move it to one of the 3 nearest test centres to where it's currently booked.

This is the remaining change we committed to make by the end of Spring 2026:

📅 31 March — test changes limited to 2 per booking

🔒 12 May — only learners can book, change or cancel their own test

📍 9 June — test moves limited to 3 nearest centres

Since 12 May, we've suspended 3605 accounts for breaking the rules and reported apps to app stores for removal. We're not stopping there.

Drivers Look Twice for Bikes!

Motorbikes are smaller than cars and easier to miss. Always look twice at junctions and roundabouts, especially before turning right.

Motorbikes can appear quickly and may be closer than they seem, don’t assume gaps are safe—check again before moving. Check mirrors and over your shoulder before changing lanes and make sure you indicate your intention.

The most common contributing factor in a collision between riders and drivers is
" Driver failed to look properly".

Important information...

🚨From 9 June, learner drivers will only be able to move their driving test to nearby test centres.

If you book a new test from this date, you will only be able to move your test to:

✅ any of the 3 centres nearest to where your test is booked

✅ the test centre you first booked at on that current booking

If you have an existing booking, the new rule will apply to where your test is booked at on 9 June – not where you first booked.
