Had Keith’s gorgeous thunderbird in for an oil service and safety check as he’s recently brought the car, it’s been waxed all over the underside which has kept the bodywork in great condition, we checked the brake fluid before raising it and found that was off the scale so drained it and cleaned the pot out as it was full of sludge then filled with new fluid then raised car and removed all wheels for access to brakes, got the rear brakes cleaned up and applied a leading edge on the shoes and adjusted the shoes then refitted the drums and flushed the rear brake fluid and bled the brakes then checked front brakes and found it had a new caliper on the O/S and all the pads were good so flushed fluid in front brakes then took some slack out of N/S front wheel bearing checked all steering and suspension joints for play and found the upper balljoints don’t have play but the rubbers aren’t in great shape we greased all the grease ni***es up and wiped off any excess just need to get some upper joints in and get them replaced, also found whilst doing rear brakes that the axle breather pipe was snapped off and the pipe was sitting to one side so removed the broken bits and trimmed the end of the pipe and refitted it to stop and water getting in the axle, checked the diff oil level and recommended an oil change on that, checked the transmission fluid and that’s nice and clean just needed topping up a little, carried out an oil and filter change also replaced the fuel filter, checked the air filter that needs replacing so got to order a new one in. Carried out an antifreeze check and that needs replacing as reading low, tyres are all great , greased all hinges latches and catches, got a light check done then took for a road test and I’ve got to say it’s like driving your sofa up the road it’s so comfortable and everything responds straight away , you quiet often find that a little bit of slack in joints here and there makes some of these older cars a little slow to respond on steering movements etc but this car drives like new, lovely car Keith👍

Had Dans very clean Trans am in today for a brake fluid flush as it’s off the scale on the tester, sucked out the old fluid from the cylinder and as you can see it had a lot of sludge in the bottom so got that all cleaned out and filled with new fluid then removed the rear wheels and discovered the half shaft seal is leaking into the N/S brake drum and soaking it all with diff oil so got them washed out and cleaned up then flushed the brake fluid through and bled the rear brakes then moved on to the fronts where we found the bleed ni***es seized in the calipers but after some perseverance we got them freed off without them breaking off, managed to flush & bleed the N/S but the O/S isn’t allowing fluid through so removed the bleed ni**le and checked it was clear and the hole in top of the caliper was clear but still no fluid so suspect the flexi hose has collapsed so need to sort that out, also found the diff pinion seal and tail shaft seal are both leaking and need sorting before they lead to further problems. Both valve covers are leaking and the header gasket is blowing so need to sort that to as soon as the parts arrive

Had Mahesh in with his lovely low mileage Jeep srt in for some new rear pads , brake fluid change and free off a seized butterfly in the exhaust, we removed the back box and disconnected the valve that operates the butterfly then sprayed it all up with some release spray and slowly worked it back n forth until it was moving nice and freely then refitted everything back in place and tested it all working again now and back with Mahesh to enjoy

Finally got the rear shock mounting brackets made, the company laser cut then added an extra bit in to strengthen them up so hopefully they will last a bit longer now, it would of been nice to strengthen up the eyelet where the shock mounts at the bottom but there’s not enough room for that so there still standard, stripped the diff down and withdrew the half shafts just need to ascertain what axle it is to order the correct parts and get that back together so I can lower it and finish sorting the carb out, I’ll update you more on this one later

Got some more done on Verity’s mustang today stripped down the front suspension to replace some of the control arms, front sway bar links, and a spring perch as the bush was broken up in it and the perch was rubbing around on the rod through the centre of it. Also stripped out the old wheel bearings on the front and cleaned up the hub then fitted new bearing carriers and bearings all packed out with new grease also greased the balljoints in the new control arms, just got some seals to replace and a couple of other jobs to do but I’ll update you on this mustang later

Had Debs in with her mustang for a pair of new rear calipers as the old ones were holding the parking brake on, we freed them off to a degree the other week to get her out of trouble until the new ones arrived so today we fitted the new calipers and bled the brakes and adjusted the parking brake lever took for a road test and all working fine so Debs can enjoy the weekend having a drive around

Had Andrews Camaro in this week to fit a skip shift eliminator on the manual transmission to give it a nicer gear shift
