Busy week again at Hollygrove. Lots of aircon work in this weather of course. Also a fair number of F-Types with misfires, diff & bearing noises. The photo shows two of them, along with an XK8 that was in for its service and some assessment work on a coolant leak, dodgy rear quarter window and brake pads. Hoping for more fair weather so these marvellous motors can be out soon having fun!

This week, we had an F-Type come in running like a bag of nails. Suspecting the usual injector misfire problem, we were a little taken aback to find the air filter in this condition, with the missing bits flying around the engine! Water had managed to get into the air filter and was slowly disintegrating it, feeding the engine with a supply of somewhat contaminated air!

This week we've had our usual bunch of services and MOT's. On the classics side a 1992 XJS left us yesterday with its persistent fuel pump problem finally solved. Other that we had an XE and an XF with front brake disc & pad replacements, an F-Pace with an auxiliary radiator replacement and an impact classification sensor replacement on a 2013 XKR. This tidy 1988 Daimler XJ 3.6 is in for a few niggles with the rack, headlamp, bonnet catch and a tired coolant level sensor.

The week started with a booking for an E-Pace 2.0D timing chain replacement. The timing chain test passed however, so one happy customer drove away with a much-reduced bill. We had three recoveries in on Tuesday. An XE billowing out white smoke - a suspected failed turbocharger, an XJ351 cutting-out randomly and an XF which failed to start after a mobile mechanic replaced the battery. The end of the week was mainly straightforward services including this F-Pace in for its major 84-month service - all the filters, fuel pump belt, and here, replacement of the timing belt.

This smart XK left us this morning having had its front brake hoses replaced, both rear tie bars, a suspension arm and rear shock absorber bushes. Our other workshop has another F-Pace in for replacement of its timing chains. An S-type got a replacement gearbox and yesterday, a long-awaited replacement DPF arrived from Jaguar for an E-Pace that's been parked-up here for months. So one happy customer will be reunited with their car at last!

This smart XFR came to us last week for a major refresh.

Both rear lower arms, front upper arms, rear drop links and dampers were replaced. A number of bushes were replaced with powerflex ones and for good measure, the spark plugs, coils and drive belts were changed too.

We are told it's off to be put through its paces at Thruxton later in the month. Should be a terrific ride!

Belonging to a customer of over 20 years, this grand 1963 Daimler Majestic Major has been in for the last time this week. Restored by Hollygrove in the early noughties it was booked in this week for its last service before travelling to London to its new owner. Bon voyage!
