Fleet Garage of the Year. Fleet Guy Awards 2026. We won it.

We went tonight nominated in two categories. We came home with this.

The fleet operation at Rhyl has been building for a while now. Proper commercial servicing, vans, diagnostics, the full range. Tonight that got recognised at a national level.

Big thank you to everyone on the team who makes it what it is. And to every fleet customer who trusts us with their vehicles.

This weekend, Shaw's are at two industry award events. Three nominations across two nights.

Tomorrow night at Fleet Guy Awards, we're in the running for Rising Star and Best Fleet Garage.

Saturday night at Blend, we're nominated for Multi-Site Garage of the Year.

Three categories. Two separate events. One weekend.

This isn't something we applied for to tick a box. It reflects what the team at both branches has been putting in — the fleet work at Rhyl, the way we've developed our commercial offering, and what it takes to run two sites properly.

Tesla tyres run at higher pressures than most cars. 42 PSI recommended. This one was sitting at 38 across all four.

That's not a puncture. That's just gradual pressure loss — tyres lose air slowly over time, and the colder it gets, the faster it happens.

On most cars, the TPMS light triggers somewhere around 25% below recommended. On a Tesla, that could mean the light doesn't come on until you're already significantly under where you should be.

Worth checking your pressures manually before winter, not just waiting for the warning.

Here's what was causing it.

Yesterday we showed you what 13.5 PSI looks like on a diagnostic screen. This is what we found when the tyre came off.

A screw embedded in the tread. A slow puncture that had probably been losing air gradually for weeks — until the pressure dropped far enough to trigger the TPMS sensor and the light came on.

This one was repairable. But while the tyre was off, we checked the full condition — tread depth, sidewall, surface cracking. We let the customer see everything we found and explained what we'd recommend and why.

The decision was theirs.

The tyre pressure light has come on. Now what?

The TPMS light tells you something's changed. It doesn't tell you which tyre, how low it is, or why.

This is from a job we did recently. The right rear tyre was reading 13.5 PSI. Most cars run between 30 and 36 PSI. That's roughly half what it should be — and the tyre was still holding air.

At that pressure, handling changes. Braking distances increase. The tyre generates heat it shouldn't. It's not a warning you can ignore and top up later.

When the light comes on, here's what we do:
Read the actual pressure. Check all four tyres. Find the reason — puncture, valve, bead, or sensor fault.

Topping it up without knowing why it dropped just means it'll happen again.

Worth knowing as the temperatures start to drop — cold weather accelerates pressure loss.

Two nominations. One very proud team.

Shaw's has been nominated for two fleetguy industry awards — Rising Star of the Year and Garage of the Year.

These awards recognise garages making a real difference in fleet servicing. To be in the running for both in the same year reflects the work this team puts in every single day.
