Not something you see on the UK roads everyday…

Dodge Journey paid us a visit with some DPF issues. Diagnostics revealed the pressure sensor for the DPF was faulty and giving out incorrect readings. So, we checked the DPF pressure manually using a manometer to confirm it was blocked.

It was evident that someone had been here before (most likely to clean the DPF) which highlights the importance of proper diagnostics and fixing the fault that caused the DPF to become blocked in the first place, before just cleaning it.

New sensor installed and a clean carried out on the DPF. All systems reset and the car was back on the road in no time 👍🏻

Nissan NV200 in last week with some DPF faults.

The pressure sensors on these are right at the back of the engine and very difficult to access, so the first step was to strip the wiper assembly and trim for better access.

What we found was one of the pressure pipes leading to the DPF completely corroded, as well as the sensor itself being faulty. New pipe made and the sensor replaced leaving everything working as it should.

While the vehicle was in we also replaced all 4 glow plugs as they were found to be faulty.

The final part of the procedure was to clean the DPF and bring the pressure down to as if it was new. All values reset and back to working as it should on the test drive 👍🏻

Another day, another Vaporiser job...

Ford Transit Tourneo owned by a local Executive Hire company came to us with a DPF fault. The culprit, as usual 🙄, was a blocked vaporiser.

The difference with this particular job was that the van had covered more than 330,000 miles. So as you can imagine, that vaporiser did NOT want to come out!

A 💩 load of heat and several hours of torture later and we managed to get it out (with the threads perfectly in tact too!)

New genuine replacement went in, the DPF was cleaned and all was resolved....

Until the light came on the dash for the EGR valve 😤

These 2.2tdci Transits like to do that once you sorted the DPF issues. Luckily, the van is getting it's timing chain done next week so the customer was advised to get the EGR valve replaced at the same time.

Ford Transit Connect in the workshop to resolve a DPF fault.

The blocked DPF was caused by this split boost pipe, a common failure point on these 1.5tdci engines.

The part was replaced with a genuine replacement from Ford and the DPF was cleaned.

All values in the ECU reset and the issue was sorted.👍

Mazda CX-5 suffering from an issue we are seeing become more and more common each day.

A blockage in the Turbocharger upstream pressure sensor pipe had caused the DPF to block. This issue affects a whole multitude of makes and models ranging from Mazda, Nissan, Ford, Renault etc.

Unblocking these pipes can be a real challenge. Fortunately for us, the customer had a background in mechanics and so had cleared out the majority of the pipe himself beforehand.

We finished it off with our cleaning solution which cleared both the pipe and the DPF in one go. 👍

Ford Kuga 2.0tdci in to sort some on going DPF issues.

The culprit was a blocked Vaporiser, a super common issue on Ford vehicles which causes the DPF to become blocked also.

A new vaporiser was installed before cleaning the DPF. As you can see on the graphs, the pressure in the DPF comes down nicely to where it needed to be and the problem was solved. 😄

While the vehicle was on the ramp, the customer also opted for a minor service using Genuine Ford parts.

Mercedes C220d in with a blocked DPF

The cause of the blockage was a faulty EGT sensor. The DPF was cleaned and the customer made arrangements to get the sensor replaced at a later date.

The pressure was a little higher than we would have liked after the clean. But, a good run on the A*5 on the way home brought it down to where it needed to be 👍🏻

2.2 I-DTEC Honda Civic in to get rid of this DPF fault.

After running several tests, we determined the fault was caused by diluted engine oil.

This was strange as the oil had been recently changed. But, perhaps not had the service counter reset or too much oil was put in 🤷‍♂️

DPF cleaned, all values reset and the customer advised the drain some of the excess oil. Job done 👍🏻

Land Rover Discovery (that we forgot to get a picture of 🤣🤦‍♂️) in to sort out a DPF fault on the dash.

The culprit was this pesky P2BAE fault code. This fault is triggered when the Adblue level is ran too low, then filled up again without clearing the fault.

So, this one was fairly straight forward. Clear the fault and apply our cleaning solution. As you can see, both the pressure and the calculated soot levels in the DPF come down perfectly and back to almost new.

Job done. The icing on the cake was this very kind review left on our Google page afterwards by the customer 😁👍🏻
