Are you ready for your Driving Test?
As Approved Driving Instructors, our primary concern is to keep our pupils safe!!!
We take on novice drivers who have little or no knowledge of driving. The process can sometimes be longer than expected, it can be challenging for learners, it can be frustrating and sometimes stressful too. But the fundamental process remains the same for Driving Instructors: Keep Learners Safe.
This brings me nicely to: Are you ready for your driving test?
When you sit your driving test, you will be expected to drive independently for the duration of the test, the examiner is there to assess your driving, not help.
* Have you had sufficient tuition?
* Does your instructor still use the pedals or control the wheel?
* Have you sat Mock Tests with your instructor??
* Do you & your instructor agree that you are ready?
Just some of the things to consider when thinking about sitting your test.
Any Approved Driving Instructor doing their job properly wouldn’t take you to your test for ‘The Experience’ ‘Just to give it a go’ or because ‘you have a test booked & don’t want to push it back’ we take you because we feel you have shown us that you have the capabilities to sit the test & we believe you can pass the test.
My rule: I am going to sit in a waiting area for you to take my car without me present, if you’re not ready, then you’re not using my car. My car is my business, without it I don’t earn, my pupils can’t have driving lessons & I can’t take those ready for their test to their test.
The biggest compliment I can give my pupils is that they can use my car without my supervision.
And before we hear things like ‘you’re instructor is holding you back to get more money from you’ Anyone who has been looking for a driving instructor lately knows that we are inundated with requests, we do not need to hold onto learners, we hold on to them because our primary concern is to: keep our pupils safe.
If we deem that pupils aren’t ready, please respect the decision, please trust the process, and please don’t go for that test because ‘you want to give it a go’ you may not be quite ready yet…. But you will be soon.
