🚫A little read for people who think top end jobs are so EXSPENSIVE 🚫

Every day we see adverts/social media promo’s for a ceramic coating for £400 to £500.

Let’s forget the marketing hype (often AI) for a minute and look at the costs…..

A customer pays £450

Now subtract:

Professional grade ceramic coating £120

Paint correction compounds, polishes, iron remover, clay media, panel prep, towels, pads, tape, applicators, chemicals, PPE, and consumables £100

Credit card processing (let’s say 1 %)£4.50

Remaining: £225.50

Now let’s talk about the labour. As we know, a professional grade ceramic coating is not a wash and a wipe-on service.

Done correctly, the process includes:

• Thorough wash
• Chemical decontamination
• Clay bar treatment
• Paint inspection
• Paint enhancement or correction
• Panel preparation
• Ceramic coating installation
• Cure time
• Final quality inspection

That can take anything from 12 to 30+ hours labour on many vehicles depending on the level of paint correction and prep.

Let’s use the low end:

12 hours × £30 per hour = £360 in labour.

The job is now…

£134.50 in the red.

And we still haven’t paid for:
• Unit rent
• Service charge
• Insurance
• Utilities
• Equipment maintenance
• Microfibre towels and laundry
• Business management software
• Advertising
• Training
• Trade Association membership
• Certification costs
• Taxes
• Profit

So the question…
