🚗 DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS – KNOW WHAT THEY MEAN 🚗
Your dashboard warning lights are your vehicle's way of telling you something needs attention. Knowing the difference between them could save you from a costly repair or even keep you safe on the road.
🔴 RED WARNING LIGHTS – STOP IMMEDIATELY These indicate a serious issue that requires immediate attention:
• Brake System Warning – Low brake fluid or a fault in the braking system. • Engine Coolant Temperature – The engine is overheating and could suffer severe damage. • Oil Pressure Warning – Low or no oil pressure can cause catastrophic engine failure. • Battery Charge Warning – The battery is not charging correctly, often due to an alternator or charging system fault.
🟠 AMBER / ORANGE WARNING LIGHTS – CAUTION These warnings mean the vehicle should be checked as soon as possible:
• Engine Management Light – Indicates an engine or emissions fault. If flashing, stop driving and seek assistance immediately. • ABS Warning Light – The anti-lock braking system has a fault. Normal braking should still work, but emergency braking performance may be reduced. • Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) – One or more tyres may be underinflated or have a puncture. • Glow Plug Warning (Diesel Vehicles) – If it stays on or flashes, there may be a fault with the glow plug or engine management system.
🟢🔵 GREEN & BLUE LIGHTS – INFORMATION ONLY These lights simply show that a system is operating:
• Green arrows – Indicators are in use. • Green headlamp symbol – Sidelights or dipped headlights are on. • Blue headlamp symbol – Full beam headlights are activated.
