When you are frustrated in a traffic queue on the motorway, this IS NOT what you do!!

It is extremely dangerous to drive in the opposing direction of the motorway.

The ONLY time it is to be done is when you are instructed to do so by the Police or National Highways Agency.

Getting frustrated coz someone has been involved in a collision, really isn't a good enough excuse to do what you did.

I saw around 50 vehicle ls do this, those who have been captured will be being sent to operation snap.

So well done, I hope it was worth the points you will receive.

It's true what they say, you can't fix stupid!!!!

What a great day today has been. In the wonderful modern world we get to communicate with people at opposite ends of the country, even the other side of the world at the touch of a button.

Today I had the pleasure of attending a wee little get together which was organised by the theory man himself, mr Chris Bensted and his partner in crime Ian.

The day simply focused on being better, being better as individuals, and as a collective.

It isn't my place to say, but there was definitely some good results from today's discussions.

The best bit, meeting all the people we network remotely with that we haven't met before.

Just a great day - call this work??

How well do you know your highway code?

Knowing your subject makes a huge difference, when you pay for your driver or instructor training, what EXACTLY are you paying for?

Its been a busy few days for me, helping some trainee driving instructors develop their coaching ability on Monday.

Tuesday started with the development of another trainee instructor and his unconscious competence, taking this to a conscious competence, allowing for fine assessment of his motor skills. These skills are essential for potential driving instructors.

Today has been spent on me developing myself, ensuring that I am continuing my own professional development, invest in myself and my future.

Meanwhile, preparing for some in car training of my own in the next month.

Exciting times ahead!!

Why Invest in Further Driver Training? πŸš‘

Many drivers focus heavily on the physical skills of driving – steering, braking, gear changes, and vehicle control. While these are essential, the real difference between an average driver and an exceptional driver lies in their higher mental processing abilities.

Advanced driver training is not just about making a vehicle move safely; it's about developing the driver's ability to:

βœ… Anticipate hazards before they develop
βœ… Read the road and traffic environment effectively
βœ… Process information earlier and more accurately
βœ… Make sound decisions under pressure
βœ… Plan well ahead rather than simply react
βœ… Manage risk dynamically as situations change
βœ… Maintain situational awareness in complex environments

The best drivers are not necessarily those with the quickest reactions. They are the drivers who rarely need quick reactions because they have already identified potential problems and adapted their driving accordingly.

For driving instructors, continued professional development is equally important. By enhancing our own higher-order thinking skills, we become better equipped to develop these abilities in our learners. We move beyond teaching vehicle control and start coaching drivers to think, assess, predict, and plan.

This is where true driving expertise is developed.

Whether you're a newly qualified driver, an experienced motorist, or a professional instructor, investing in advanced driver training helps build the cognitive skills that underpin safe, smooth, and systematic driving.

After all, driving is not primarily a physical task – it's a thinking task carried out in a moving vehicle.
