In case anyone is wondering why F2E Fun2Electric hasn’t relaunched following the Covid lockdown, there have been two problems.

1 A serious lack of publicly available chargers

2 Most importantly, when we went to look to put the vehicles back on the road, AVIVA has ceased offering insurance to Car Clubs and our volunteers in the little time they have available have been unable to find an insurer who does.

The vehicles are still there and this owners are still willing to lend them to our Community Interest Company, but the insurance issue is currently the main problem.

It’s sad when these vehicles are under utilised by their owners (hence their willingness to lend them) when they can meet a need.

The three vehicles are;

A Renault Zoe electric
A Renault Twizy electric (2 seater and summer only)
And a VW Caddy wheelchair access vehicle.

As from Thursday 14th May until 1st July or risk level 3 enables us to feel confident about lending our vehicles for short periods, our vehicles will not be available to the general public. However................. they will be available to NHS workers at QEQM Margate for personal (not spouse travel) as we know you are grown up and skilled enough to be able to ensure your own safety within a vehicle and to identify danger surface areas. Email and speak to Jack if you'd like to enrol for the year with free annual membership and no usage fee until July. More info will follow shortly.

We're very pleased to inform our members that as from January 2020, there will be a Wheelchair Access Vehicle (WAV) available to book. More will follow later.

As of last week, Fun2Electric was finally able to buy it's first two vehicles (previously all vehicles had been on free loan by supportive members). This is thanks to a grant from KCC's "Low Case Team" and a significant loan from the founder member of the club.

Our Own charging station - It's only taken a year, but having moved in to "The Hub" building in Queen Street Car Park at the corner of Elms Avenue and Queen Street (opposite Waitrose), we've installed our own dedicated car charger so we are not totally reliant on the council operated ones in the Leopold Street Car Park.
Ours isn't a fast charger like the council one and will take up to 4 hours to fully charge a car, but it means we don't risk being unable to charge due to matters out of our control.
If you already own an electric car, then we offer discounts to the annual car club membership which not only gives you access to our charger for free (9-4 Monday to Friday), but access to other vehicles in the car club including vehicles with longer ranges, the fun "Twizy" and hopefully by June next year a wheelchair access vehicle.
