It’s been an unusual few days of removing unexpected items trapped in cars.

Following a deceased squirrel and rat under a bonnet last week 🤢, yesterday we removed this yellow sign caught in an undercarriage after driving down the motorway 😳 Incredibly no damage was caused and the driver was as shocked to see the offending item as us!

In addition to carrying out MOTs, services and repairs we may now add ‘bizarre object removals’ to our list of skills. (Although if dead rodents never grace our garage again, we may be very grateful! 🐿️🐀)

🎉A family business for 50 years 🎉

In 1974, my dad purchased Station Garage when I was a year old. Little did I know that years later, my husband and I would join him. Peter (whom I dragged up north from London 🙄) arrived in 2009 accompanied by me in 2012. Throughout all this time, my mum has played a key part in the business and still works here every week.

Although my dad is no longer with us, we are incredibly proud that 50 years later, the garage is still running strong thanks to all the amazing customers - and staff - who have supported us over the years.

To celebrate this huge milestone, it was my and Peter’s aim to see the outside of the garage be given the makeover it deserved but unfortunately, the wait for our amazing builders and then the lack of co-operation from the northern weather (unsurprisingly) has meant it will be early next year when it will finally be painted and completed.

Regardless, we can’t wait to see it look amazing and to get a sign back up that will still include my dad’s name. I know he’d approve.

So thank you again for continuing to trust us and support our family business for over half a century! We appreciate it more than you can imagine.

RAMSBOTTOM TOWN PLANS

I’m sure you will have all seen/heard the latest proposals by Bury Council to ‘make it easier, safer and more attractive for everyone to travel to and around Ramsbottom’.

As a business, we recently met with Bury Council and consultants. Having provided extensive feedback on the initial proposals in 2022, we were delighted to see that our most significant concerns to our business had been addressed. It is a relief that cars can now be driven into our workshops and our car parking spaces are protected!

The new proposals for Ramsbottom town centre remain significant, most noticeably the introduction of a one-way system around the town for all vehicles whereby traffic will go up Bridge Street and down Kay Brow.

We highlighted our concerns about the practical feasibility of this at the meeting. It is very challenging to understand how this will ‘improve connectivity to local places’. We don’t know what difference one voice will make, but we do know that the more people who provide constructive feedback, the more Bury Council should take note.

For example, have they taken into account the impact of steam trains closing the road; the impact of storms / snow / black ice / a single accident on a very steep Kay Brow and this being the proposed only way through the town; how an emergency services vehicle will get through the town; and so on.

The consultation period is open until Friday 20th December. Please take the opportunity to review the proposals and share your thoughts whilst they can be acted upon. There will be a real impact for every person that lives / travels through Ramsbottom 🚗🚙
