🔥 A little insight into why we have minimum order charges…
We’ve had a few customers recently ask why we’ve started enforcing our minimum order charges, so we thought this photo might explain it better than we can.
Here we have one scooter wheel hub sitting very comfortably in our 4-metre curing oven.
Yes. One wheel hub. 😂
We absolutely love what we do, but sometimes the cost of processing a small job simply doesn't stack up commercially. The spraying itself might only take a few minutes, but the oven still needs to be heated to temperature, the equipment needs to be running and all the associated costs of processing that one part still apply.
And that's before we mention the gas bill for heating a 4-metre oven for one wheel hub. 🔥😂
BUT… we do always offer an alternative.
If you're happy to wait until we're running your colour as part of another batch, we can add your parts in and there's no minimum order charge.
It makes sense for us, it keeps the cost down for you and everyone wins.
The other option is simple: you need your part doing now, in a colour we're not currently running, and you don't want to wait for the next batch.
That's absolutely fine too. 👍
But in that case, the minimum order charge applies.
We sometimes get asked why we can't just "put it through" when we're already coating other parts. The reality is that if we're not already running that particular colour, we're looking at heating a 4-metre oven and running the whole process specifically for that one small job.
The oven doesn't know it's only got one wheel hub in it. It still wants heating. 😂
We're here to provide a service and we want to do a good job for every customer, whether you're sending us one part or 1,000.
So the choice is pretty straightforward:
👉 Happy to wait? We'll batch it in and avoid the minimum order charge.
👉 Need it doing now? No problem — but the minimum order charge applies.
It's not complicated. It's simply the reality of running a commercial coating business.
Thanks, as always, to the customers who understand the process and work with us. We really do appreciate it. 🖤
