Right, let’s not mess about.

This is a Honda VFR750R RC30, and they don’t come much cleaner than this one.

First registered in 1988 and finished in the Red, White and Blue that every bike lover knows, this example has covered just 5,900km from new, which is roughly 3,666 miles. Yes, you read that right.

It was imported from Italy in 2016 and registered here on 1st December that year, and it’s had two keepers in the UK since. It was owned previously by a mature collector who kept it in a heated garage and only rode it on dry days.

It’s been properly gone through by us before sale. Full service with all oils, filters and fluids changed, a new battery fitted, and the carburettors have been removed, stripped, sonic cleaned, refitted and balanced. It’s been set up and test ridden, and it comes with 12 months MOT and 3 months warranty, so you can buy it with confidence.

The history file is exactly what you’d hope for. You get two keys, the original Honda rear wheel stand, the original owner’s manual and the toolkit, along with a stack of MOT certificates, service invoices, an agreed value insurance certificate, original sales brochures and a copy of the RC30 Performance Portfolio.

The RC30 needs no introduction. HRC engineering for the road, a V4 that sounds like nothing else, a single sided swingarm and a place in history that only gets stronger every year. Values on these have never looked back, and good ones with genuine low mileage and paperwork are getting harder to find.

1985 Yamaha RZV500R, 9,225 miles, £21,499

This is the real deal, a V4 two-stroke Grand Prix replica brought in from Japan in 1985 and looked after ever since by a mature collector who kept it in a heated garage. It has covered just 9,225 miles and, by all accounts, has never seen rain. You can believe it when you look at it.

The factory speed block colours are sharp, the gold wheels are spot on and there’s not a mark where there shouldn’t be one.

It comes with both keys, the original owners handbook, the original Yamaha tool kit and the rear single seat cowl. Those are the bits that usually go missing over forty years, and they’re all here.

It starts and runs perfectly, and before it leaves us it will have a full service with all oils and fluids changed, the oil pump and YPVS system set up, and the carburettors removed, sonic cleaned, rebuilt and set up. So you’ll be buying a bike that’s ready to enjoy, not one that needs a list of jobs doing.

Number six, on its way

This stunning Honda CBR900RRV Fireblade has just gone off to a very good friend of Fastline.

He’s now bought six bikes from us, which makes him officially more loyal than Gary’s pet chihuahua.

We sourced this one specifically for him, and it’s a belter. RRV Fireblade, still looking like it’s just rolled out of the showroom. It joins a collection we’ve also been looking after for him, with regular restoration and recommissioning work.

At this rate we should probably give him his own parking space.

Right, let’s talk about one of the properly special ones. This is a 1997 Honda RVF750R RC45, and if you know, you know. If you don’t, sit down.

The RC45 wasn’t built to be a nice road bike. Honda built it so they could go World Superbike racing, and the road bike is the homologation special that made it legal. That’s real HRC pedigree, not a sticker pack and a bit of marketing. It did the job too. John Kocinski took the 1997 WSB title on one, and Aaron Slight finished runner up on them as well, more than once.

Under the red, white and blue you’ve got a liquid cooled V4 with PGM fuel injection, singing out 119bhp at 12,000rpm, hung on Honda’s Pro-Arm single sided swingarm. It weighs just 189kg with an 18 litre tank, so it’s no heavyweight and no fuss.

This one came into the UK in 2008 and has 25,565 miles on the clock, which tells you it’s been ridden by an owner who understands these bikes need using. It comes with a big history file and plenty of receipts, so you can see where it’s been. It’s very well set up, starts, runs and looks superb, and comes with the owners manual, workshop manual and two keys. £44 495

2012 Triumph Scrambler 900, 31,000 miles, £4,195

Right, let’s talk about this one. The clock says 31k, but stand next to it and you’d swear it had done a fraction of that. The black paint is deep and glossy, the chrome on those high level twin pipes is proper mirror finish, and the engine cases look like they’ve been looked after rather than abused. Someone has loved this bike, and it shows.

For the techy lot, the Scrambler 900 uses Triumph’s air cooled 865cc parallel twin with the 270 degree crank, which gives it that lovely uneven throb and a big helping of low down torque. It’s fuel injected, so it starts first time and pulls cleanly from cold without any fiddling about, even though the throttle bodies are tucked away to look like carbs. Add the wire spoked wheels, 19 inch front, and the dual purpose rubber and you’ve got a bike that looks the part and can handle a bit more than just a run to the cafe.

It’s one of those bikes that works everywhere. Town, back lanes, a bit of a blast on a Sunday, or just sitting outside the pub looking good, which it does better than most. Modern classics with this much character and this kind of condition don’t hang about, and at £4,195 it won’t be here long.
