⚠️ Trailer Safety Tip: Don't Overlook Your Breakaway Cable! ⚠️

Your trailer's breakaway cable is a small component that plays a vital role in keeping you and other road users safe. If your trailer or caravan were ever to become detached from your tow vehicle, the cable is designed to apply the trailer's brakes and help bring it to a controlled stop.

🔍 What should you check before every journey?

✅ Look for damage – Check for frayed strands, rust, corrosion or broken fittings. If it's damaged, replace it immediately.

✅ Make sure it's the correct length – The cable should have enough slack for normal cornering but should not drag on the ground.

✅ Attach it correctly – Secure it to the designated attachment point on your towbar or around the towbar neck if appropriate for your setup. Never clip it onto the towball itself.

✅ Check the spring clip or carabiner – Ensure it closes fully and isn't bent or weakened.

✅ Avoid knots or twists – The cable should run freely and not be tangled around electrical cables or the trailer's safety chain.
