Alternator Replacement – Renault Clio 2011 1.5 Diesel

Vehicle presented with a battery charging issue. After diagnostic checks, the alternator was found to be faulty and not supplying sufficient charge to the battery, resulting in loss of electrical power.

The defective alternator was removed and replaced with a new unit. All electrical connections, drive belt, and mounting points were checked and secured during installation.

The charging system was tested after replacement, confirming correct voltage output and proper operation. Battery is now charging as it should, and the vehicle is running reliably.

Turbocharger Replacement – Hyundai ix35

Vehicle presented with excessive smoke from the exhaust, indicating turbocharger failure. Upon inspection, the turbo was found to be worn and no longer operating correctly, causing oil to pass into the intake/exhaust system.

The faulty turbocharger was removed and replaced with a new unit. A full fitting kit was used, including new gaskets, seals, and necessary hardware to ensure a proper installation.

All oil feed and return lines were checked and cleaned to prevent contamination. The system was reassembled, and the engine was run and tested to confirm correct turbo operation and that the smoking issue has been resolved.

Vehicle now running correctly with restored performance and no excessive smoke.

🔧 Mercedes-Benz C-Class 2.2 CDI Diesel (2012) – Rocker Cover Gasket Replacement 🔧

This 2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class 2.2 CDI diesel came into the workshop with an oil leak from the rocker (valve) cover area, a very common issue on these engines.

🔍 Inspection findings:
• Failed rocker cover gasket causing oil leakage
• Oil contamination around the top of the engine
• No internal engine damage identified

🔧 Work carried out:
✅ Rocker cover gasket replacement
✅ Mating surfaces cleaned and inspected
✅ Engine checked for leaks after reassembly

⚠️ Important note for Mercedes 2.2 CDI owners:
Due to high operating temperatures, these engines can suffer from rocker cover distortion over time. In some cases, replacing the gasket alone is not a permanent fix. Where required, we recommend replacing the complete rocker cover to ensure a proper seal and avoid repeat oil leaks.

All work completed to a high standard, restoring the engine to a clean and leak-free condition.

🔧 Citroën C4 Picasso 1.2 Petrol Turbo – Wet Timing Belt Replacement 🔧

This Citroën Picasso 1.2 PureTech came into our workshop with a timing correlation fault, pointing towards an issue with the wet timing belt system.

Despite having full main dealer service history and only 60,000 miles, inspection revealed some serious concerns:

⚠️ Original wet timing belt still fitted
⚠️ Belt already cracking and breaking down
⚠️ Blocked and heavily contaminated air filter, clearly not replaced
⚠️ Evidence of belt material contamination in the oil system

The customer had previously returned to the main dealer multiple times and was advised piston rings had been replaced. However, our findings showed no evidence of this work, and the root cause was the degrading wet belt, which is a known issue on these engines if not maintained correctly.

🔧 Work carried out:
✅ Wet timing belt replacement
✅ Engine oil & filter change
✅ Thorough inspection and clean-up
✅ Timing reset and fault codes cleared

⚠️ This belt was very close to failure, which could have resulted in catastrophic engine damage if left unresolved.

This job highlights the importance of proper inspections, not just stamps in the service book.
If you own a 1.2 PureTech engine, especially with a wet belt, early checks can save thousands.
