🔧 Rotational Knocking Noise After Recent Brake Replacement🔧
A vehicle came into the workshop this week with a customer reporting a rotational knocking noise, when light braking, that had appeared shortly after having new brake discs and pads fitted elsewhere.
On inspection, it was clear that the discs and pads had recently been replaced, however the necessary preparation work had not been carried out to ensure the components operated correctly and smoothly.
After stripping down the brakes, we found:
✅ Corrosion present on the wheel mounting faces.
✅ Copper grease applied.
✅ Brake discs affected by corrosion build-up between the disc and wheel hub face.
We removed the discs and pads, thoroughly cleaned the wheel and hub mounting faces, removed the copper grease, and corrected the issues caused by the corrosion build-up before refitting everything correctly.
The result? A smooth, quiet braking system and one happy customer. 👍
When replacing brake components, it's not just about fitting new parts, proper preparation and cleaning of mating surfaces is essential to ensure everything runs true and performs as it should.
