It’s been a bumper season on the water with Wetwheels Solent 🌊🚤

We’ve now reached the final few spaces of the season, so if you’ve been thinking about joining us, this is your chance to get out on the Solent before we wrap up for the year.

A huge thank you as always to the organisations that support what we do, including Gunwharf Quays Marina, Suzuki Marine UK, Pantaenius UK, Cheetah Marine Catamarans and Raymarine.

Scattering ashes at sea – Portsmouth/Solent

Some lives are woven with the tides, we think their goodbye should be too.

For those who love the sea a traditional farewell doesn’t always feel right.

That’s why more families are choosing to scatter ashes at sea because it’s a peaceful, powerful way to honour a life well lived and provides a wonderful moment of reflection, release, and connection with nature.

At Wetwheels, we offer private, fully accessible ceremonies that give families space to say goodbye in a meaningful and memorable way.
You’ll depart Portsmouth Harbour aboard our purpose-built accessible Cheetah catamaran. Once at the chosen location, we pause. We honour.

Then, with dignity and care:
🔵 Ashes are scattered in quiet reflection
🔵 A prayer, poem, or piece of music may mark the moment
🔵 Loved ones can join in with biodegradable flower petals
🔵 A small portion can be kept in jewellery or urns if you wish
🔵 We provide the exact GPS coordinates so you can revisit the spot

Many families choose to continue with a gentle cruise on the Solent. It’s not just about goodbye, it’s about creating lasting, positive memories.

Duration: 90 minutes
Cost: From £350
Includes: All safety equipment and a supportive, professional crew
Because saying goodbye doesn’t have to mean letting go. It can be about honouring who they were, where they felt most alive, and the freedom of the sea they now return to.

“Better than medicine.”

So says JJ from Springfield Nursing Home - Hartford Care following their recent visit on Wetwheels. And we couldn’t agree more.

Nearly 15 years ago, our founder Geoff Holt wrote an article entitled “One day, doctors will prescribe a trip on Wetwheels instead of tablets.”

It seems JJ also understands just how much a trip on the water can mean, particularly for disabled and older people who so often face barriers to enjoying activities like these.

We absolutely loved having you all on board. Your carers and volunteers were an absolute delight, and we thoroughly enjoyed our day together. You brought a ray of sunshine to our whole crew. 💙

We look forward to welcoming you aboard Wetwheels again soon!

One of the highlights of our year is welcoming on board the young people from Phab, we had so much fun, our crew came back exhausted from laughing so much. Hurry back soon from all of us here at Wetwheels.

We’re absolutely delighted to be back in Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight for our annual Wetwheels Solent visit.

We’ll be running trips throughout the week for local disabled people, together with their friends and families, and things have already got off to a fantastic start. We’ve made it out to the iconic Needles and also had the chance to enjoy the remarkable coloured sands at Alum Bay — two of the Isle of Wight’s most distinctive landmarks.

None of this would be possible without the generous support of Wight Aid, who are helping to make this week happen, and a special thank you as well to Yarmouth Harbour for their continued support with our berthing and mooring arrangements.
It’s wonderful to be back.

Earlier this week, we had the incredible honour of welcoming a very special gentleman aboard Wetwheels Solent.
Les is 97 years old and served in the Royal Navy aboard HMS Alliance, the A-class submarine now preserved at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum in Gosport. Launched in 1945 and commissioned in 1947, HMS Alliance went on to serve throughout the post-war and Cold War years, including operations in the Far East.

So to take Les out on the water and bring him back alongside the submarine on which he once served was a truly special moment. Seeing HMS Alliance behind him, and knowing the memories that must have come flooding back, made this far more than just another Wetwheels trip. It was an emotional reunion with an important part of Les’s life and our naval history.

A real privilege for all of us at Wetwheels Solent.
