Today is the last day of dredging here.
A few images showing some of the areas that have been dredged. In total 3000 cubic meters have been removed.
The holding pontoon will be reinstated during the course of tomorrow and available on Tuesday.

By way of an update, slightly increased breeze over the last two days has prevented dredung ops taking place. Tomorrow should be better for .

Tomorrow, Thursday, the remaining piece of holding pontoon will be removed to allow the dredgung platform in behind it. As a result the fuel pontoon will be out only use. This is because it will only be secured by a single pile and long lines back to shore, so will not be safe to use.

Once again, we apologise for the inconvenience and we're very grateful for the support and cooperation everone has shown so far.

All being well we're hopeful that we'll be able to get the holding pontoon and fuel bay back in full operation early next week.

Day 2 of dredging in the Premier Southsea Marina channel. Here is Split Two taking position alongside Boxer for the start of today's digging.

A reminder also to call us on VHF ch.80, or by phone or in person in the office, for advice on passing the dredge vessel combination.

Our fuel bay remains open for now but will be closed at times once the dredging starts around the fuel pontoon area. We will endeavour to give notice when this happens.

End of Day 1 and Split II is heading out with the first full load just after HW.

Working with the tides are currently working in the afternoons. As the tides roll forwards they will need to swap to morning operations, which may be this Sunday or Monday. When they know, we'll know and you'll know as well.

Dredging update – First dig is underway

Boxer, the back hoe dredging platform, and Split II, the hopper barge, will operate mainly on rising tides, from around 3 hours before HW. As Split II is loaded the draft gets deeper so she needs the deeper water of the rising tide. Loading takes about three hours which allows Split II to depart Langstone Harbour around HW, go out to sea and to the deposit site. On return to Langstone Harbour empty Split II will tie up on the Langstone Ferry pontoon until the tides allow another dig.

When underway Split II will have very limited ability to manoeuvre as she will be constrained by draft. All other vessels should navigate with caution, allow plenty of room and avoid coming into conflict with the dredging vessels.

If navigating the marina channel during a dig phase please call the marina on VHF ch.80 to request latest information on how to safely pass the dredge vessels. The crew will also be monitoring VHF ch.80.

We welcome Boxer and Split II today for dredging in the channel and around the holding pontoon, which will be out of use for the duration of the operation. We appreciate the disruption that this will cause is not ideal, especially at this time of year, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Any of our berth holder customers would be welcomed at any of our Portsmouth Harbour marinas during the dredging should they feel that the impact is too restrictive. Any time spent at other sites will not be taken from your free nights quota for annual customers of course.
