The popular SE5a Kit from Microaces is now available with a 3D printed Super Detail Pack. This includes radiator, machine guns, sights, engine and exhaust manifold and pipes, as shown in this video.

See for more details on the models available and the upgrade pack: https://microaces.myshopify.com/collections/microaces-r-a-f-se5a/products/r-a-f-se5a-mccuddon-kit

The model shown in this video is a new addition to the SE5a range and represents B'4863 flown by Captain James McCudden, the most decorated British pilot in aviation history.

In testing, the small additional weight that the 3D parts add to the model don't seem to effet its scale performance in the air.

Albert Ball (pictured), Rank: Captain. Date of Death: 07/05/1917. Age: 20. Regiment/Service: Royal Flying Corps, 56 Sqdn.; formerly with 7th (Robin Hood) Bn. Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment). Awards: V C, D S O and 2 Bars, M C, Mentioned in Despatches. Grave Reference: Grave 643, Cemetery: ANNOEULLIN COMMUNAL CEMETERY AND GERMAN EXTENSION. Additional Information: Legion d'Honneur (France); Order of St. George, 4th Class (Russia). Son of Sir Albert Ball, J.P., of Stansted House, Wollaton Park, Nottingham.

Citation - an extract from the "London Gazette" dated 8th June 1917, records the following: -

"For most conspicuous and consistent bravery from the 25th of April to the 6th of May 1917, during which period Capt. Ball took part in twenty-six combats in the air and destroyed eleven hostile aeroplanes, drove down two out of control, and forced several others to land. In these combats Capt. Ball, flying alone, on one occasion fought six hostile machines, twice he fought five and once four. When leading two other British aeroplanes he attacked an enemy formation of eight. On each of these occasions he brought down at least one enemy.

Several times his aeroplane was badly damaged, once so seriously that but for the most delicate handling his machine would have collapsed, as nearly all the control wires had been shot away. On returning with a damaged machine, he had always to be restrained from immediately going out on another. In all, Capt. Ball has destroyed forty-three German aeroplanes and one balloon, and has always displayed most exceptional courage, determination and skill."

John Michie flew his newly built Cricket at High Wycombe recently.

See the video evidence....

Some sage advice from John to prevent skittish behaviour with ground handling on the smooth surface of the hall, is to add an abrasive patch to the tail skid and noticeably toe in the wheels too.

Thanks to Brian Seymour for posting this video!

If you're in the area, its a great club with friendly and knowledgeable members PLUS it's a great indoor venue to fly at.

You can find the Cricket kit on our website HERE: https://microaces.myshopify.com/collections/the-cricket
