Training is really beneficial whatever your level! Here you can see both RNLI Poole Lifeboats and RNLI Swanage Lifeboat responding to a simulated collision between our RIBs Hunter and Harrier. The PTUK Instructors deployed MOB mannequins into the water and various volunteers on board the RIBs simulated the injuries arising from such collisions. The incident allowed the crews to triage a mass casualty event in some pretty challenging conditions. Great experience for everyone involved.

We are running another of our RYA Powerboat Instructor courses and need 1x people with no experience to come afloat and be taught by the trainee instructors under the guidance of Instructor instructors! Saturday 2nd May from 1000-1200 pop down to the Dock Office area at Cobbs Quay Marina and start the season in style. Have your lifejackets checked by the RNLI Poole Lifeboat Station Water Safety Team, chat to the Maritime Volunteer Service team about how best to transit the area of Poole Bridges when its busy, meet the Poole Coastguard Rescue Team volunteers and subject to operational requirements Poole Lifeboat…. AND of course meet up with us where we’ll be doing some general safety training and CPR and defib exercises for the CQ Berth Holders Association. We’re delighted to have concluded the training sessions for the Skippers and Crew of Dolphin IV. The Friends of Dolphin’s new Dolphin IV gives the opportunity for those less able to get afloat in Poole Harbour on a new wonderful Yamaha powered Cheetah Catamaran. The sessions focussed on the use of the joystick features of the Yamaha Helmmaster installation giving skippers great fine manourveing skills. Like any skill that seems easy it was great to be able to brush up skills and impart the benefits of real finesse when using the Helmmaster making every coming alongside look a work of art. If we get asked why come to Poole for a course then there really are so so many reasons - the second largest natural harbour in the world - loads of boats, buoyage, channels and afloat activity, a stunning coastline and every couple of weeks we get truly stunning superyachts popping in to say hi and benefit from the facilities we have here - what’s not to love! :)
