Ford have said they plan to release three new electric vehicles including a new Puma by 2024. This all part of Fords plan to hit net zero by 2035 with them only selling EV’s.
The company wants to make two cars to fit between the Puma and the Mustang Mach-E which they’ve named as a Medium-size Crossover and the Sports Crossover. These will be based off the VW MEB electric platform.
Ford will also be releasing a line of electric transits with three of them being in a van conversion and another smaller two as a Tourneo people-carrier.
They expect to sell 600,000 EV’s annually by 2026 with 1.2 million made in Cologne over six years. This has resulted in an additional investment of £1.5bn in developing the facility.
To keep on top of targets Ford has also announced a joint venture with SK On and Koc Holding to make a battery plant in Turkey with the expectation that it will be one of the largest vehicle production facilities in Europe.
