The straw that broke the camels back 🤯🤯
When I started out remapping and fixing Dpfs the VAG group PPD engines are what I essentially learned on which got me to the level I’m at now - so when I get 3 PPDs in one day I thought ,,,, child’s play this ,,,, so I thought 😂
First one had been mapped at somepoint in its last 18 years on the road, not usually a issue but it prevented us from reading obd , not to worry get the ecu out and bench it in open mode. Job done.
The next one had a stupid air filter on that was throwing maf codes which wouldn’t allow me to get the dpf light reset,,, a simple 5 min drive turned in to 3 hours of up and down the motorway, again 💩 happens. Job done.
The last and by fair the worst was this A4 B7 after carrying out the work requested we set about mapping the ecu, simple job ,,,, so we thought, the ecu bricked during writing, and again it happens, no danger, we remove the ecu and fix it on the bench. Job done,,,, not 😂
we fixed the ecu however the car still wouldn’t start 🤯🤯
so we send the customer home ( with no car) and get back to it today,
Today we continue trying to fix the ecu (what we thought was the issue an still no start, btw the customer god bless him was the most patient man I have come across, I wish I could say the same for me 😂.
So a bit of the old head scratching 🤔 and back tracking, I decided to jump the starter motor . Boom hey presto, by George I think we’ve got it, a dirty earth wire 🤪🔫🔫 2 mins on a little clean up and boom she’s alive - so 15 attempts of fixing a ecu that was already fixed, a bald patch from scratching my head for two days and blood pressure that even my dyno couldn’t measure and we have the job done, 2 hours working late yesterday, 2 hours working late today but our Customer is back on the road, my stress levels have reduced form 100 to a modest 42 (which I can live with) and the job is done❤️❤️
That’s us claoed for the bank holiday so it’s time for a well over due 🍺or 🍻and chalk today off as a life lesson 😂 have a good one guys
