🚗 PLEASE READ — PUPILS & PARENTS 🚗

We understand how frustrating driving test waiting times are right now. However, we are seeing an increase in pupils wanting to take tests before they are ready, sometimes with pressure placed on instructors to agree.

We want to be clear:

👉 Safety will always come before reviews or pressure.

If your instructor is still:
🛑 telling you when to change gear
🛑 asking speed limits
🛑 talking you through manoeuvres
🛑 telling you which lane or exit to take
🛑 helping you judge space or positioning

…then you are not test ready yet.

Our instructors can only give honest professional advice. Abuse, threats, or pressure will result in lessons or calls being ended immediately.

Remember — when the test starts, it’s just you and the examiner. No prompts, no help, just your own ability.

Nerves are normal. Doubt usually means more practice is needed.

This is a skill for life — not just a test.

Thank you for understanding and helping us keep everyone safe on the roads. 🚗 Val and Lynns Driving School

Here's what to expect on your driving test...
The test is split into 4 sections:
1. 👁 Eyesight check, usually a car registration plate from 20m away..
(Fail this, your test doesn't go ahead)
Bring them glasses🤓
2. Show me and tell me questions 🙋‍♂️
- You will get 1 tell me question at the start of your test.
- Then 1 show me question whilst driving.
3. General driving ability 🚘
- You will drive in various roads and traffic conditions
- You will drive independantly and you will need to follow:
A Sat Nav
Road Signs
Or a combination of both
You will be asked to pull over 3 times:
A hill start
An angled start (move off from behind a parked car)
One normal stop at the side of the road
Also, the possibility of the emergency stop ✋️(1 in 7)
4. Reversing your vehicle ⏪️
You will be asked to complete one of the four reverse manouvres
- Reverse parallel park
- Reverse bay park
- Forward bay park
- Pull up on right side of road, reverse back 2 car lengths
You will be driving for 35 to 45 minutes roughly.
Good luck to all that have a driving test coming up! 🍀🤞

On the run up to Christmas I bought all my pupils a giftcard and put various amounts on and on one I put £50. I offered them out to my pupils and they picked their own card. Well done to a shy Nola on winning the £50...

🚨 Advice for Drivers at Red Lights 🚦
Police have shared clear guidance on what to do when an emergency vehicle needs to get through — and it’s simpler than many think.
Emergency vehicles using blue lights and sirens have legal exemptions for speed limits, red lights and keep-left signs. When they’re trying to make progress, they’re asking drivers to help create a safe route.
If possible, motorists should move over safely to allow them past. There’s no need to mount kerbs, swerve, or make sudden movements — crews won’t come through until they know the driver has seen them.
If a driver is waiting at a red light, they should move aside if they can, but must not drive through the red light. That’s still an offence and could lead to fines, points, or liability if a collision occurs.
When emergency crews can’t get through, they’ll use effective non-use — lights stay on but the siren goes off — meaning they’ll come through when it’s safe.
Police also stress that stopping suddenly isn’t always helpful. Sometimes it’s safer to keep moving until there’s a clear and safe place for the emergency vehicle to pass. Stopping on bends, hill brows or opposite another vehicle can make things harder.
👉 Bottom line: Drivers shouldn’t commit offences — just make it easier and safer for emergency responders to get through when they can. 🚑🚓🚒
