A Few Simple Checks Could Save You a Headache

With the colder, wetter months approaching, now is a good time to give your vehicle a quick once-over.
One of the easiest things to check is your fluid levels. Coolant, engine oil and screenwash all play an important part in keeping your vehicle running safely and reliably. It's also worth keeping an eye out for anything that shouldn't be there.

💧 A puddle underneath your vehicle
🔧 A drop in coolant level
🌡️ Your temperature gauge behaving differently
⚠️ A warning light appearing on the dashboard
👃 An unusual smell coming from under the bonnet

These could all be signs that something needs attention. A small coolant leak might not seem like a big deal, but leaving it can eventually lead to overheating and much more serious damage. If you've noticed a leak or something doesn't look quite right, don't wait for it to become a breakdown.

Is Your Car Heater Blowing Cold? Here's What Could Be Wrong...

Now that October has arrived and the mornings are starting to feel a little chillier, a working heater becomes a lot more important! If your heater is blowing cold air when it should be warming up the cabin, the heater matrix could be part of the problem.

The heater matrix is essentially a small radiator inside your vehicle. Hot engine coolant passes through it, and the heat is then used to warm the air blown into the cabin. If the matrix becomes blocked, develops a leak or isn't receiving hot coolant properly, you may notice:

🌡️ Cold or lukewarm air from the heater
💧 A coolant smell inside the vehicle
💦 Dampness around the passenger footwell
🌡️ Your engine temperature behaving unusually

Of course, a cold heater doesn't always mean the heater matrix is at fault, there can be several possible causes, which is why proper diagnosis is important.

When the Radiator Is No Longer Available… Build One from Scratch!

This is where things get a little more involved. We recently had a radiator come into the workshop that is no longer available, leaving the customer without a straightforward replacement option.

So, Paul is building a new one from scratch!

The process starts with the new core arriving at the workshop, before Paul gets to work carefully building and fabricating the radiator. It’s a time-consuming job and certainly not an off-the-shelf solution, but that’s where specialist radiator knowledge and fabrication skills really come into their own.

Sometimes you can't just order the part you need… you have to build it. 👨‍🔧
