Wellington, New Zealand 😊

It’s been 10 days since we landed in Wellington and it’s been a very busy 10 days! We’ve got to know the city and the surrounding area and have met a huge amount of chirpy, friendly kiwis! We move into our house today which we’ll be sharing with three awesome people! Billies got a job in a class little seafood restaurant cheffing and Iv spent the last week working as a repair technician in a caravan/motor home workshop 🙂 We’re excited to call this place home for the next year as we work loads and explore this wonderful place!

On a side note, I dug into the wallet and bought a new toy for getting to and from work! A 2007 Suzuki Sv1000 🤩 She’s a beast 🏍💨💨💨

The longboats of Thailand 🤩

These bad boys are great...a simple wooden boat with a car engine bolted to the back with a huge shaft and propeller bolted direct to the flywheel! Everyone admires the scenic landscape and I stare at the engine setup 🤣

It seems like only a few days ago I was rolling around in oil in the workshop, but it’s been over three months now since i closed up the workshop and began our travels! 😊
Me and my partner are absolutely loving life but I do miss the grease, the oil, the fumes, the work and the challenges! 🔧🔩⚙️🛠
My main man Billy is now back over on the Isles of Scilly but still representing the Rustyhills brand over there as he continues to keep vehicles and machines on the roads and in good health! 🤙🏻💪🏻🏍💨💨

What an adventure it’s been!! 🤙🏻🔧🏍💨

As many of you know, me and my Billie have been planning our travelling adventure for a many years now and it’s finally time for us to go explore the world before we get old and responsible 😂 and sadly (for the time being at least😉)...the workshop doors are closed 😭

The last 3 and a bit years have been a blast! Customers definitely make a business and iv had the pleasure to meet many great individuals and work on many many lovely machines! With help and support from those close to me and all those who trekked through the quarry mud..I managed to transform a passion into a small business, transforming a tin can into a fully functioning workshop...and I could never have envisioned how successful it would be 🙂 So a big thank you to all Iv met along the way...it’s been an absolute pleasure!💪🏻 Special thanks to my man Bill for all his work and knowledge through the years! We’re quite ying and yang but have immense pride and determination when working together! Cute 😂

Currently writing this from a disgustingly hot Bangkok..it’s time for our next little adventure to begin! Must stop eyeing up the machines here tho..there’s a tasty rare Yamaha sr500 that’s screaming to be worked on 🔧🤣

Jo’s Kawasaki Kz1100 trike has been in the shop after she was left in pieces and neglected by another garage for many months , due to poor running and overheating issues!
With the engine in bits and the wiring loom looking somewhat very bodged together..we stripped her down and began the rebuild!

•Main frame derusted and painted while the rear frame housing the rear seat was lengthened and strengthened throughout
•The engine received a much needed rebuild, thorough clean with new gaskets all round and shim adjustments
•new rear seat with toolbox and ammo box storage, rear led brake lights and cheeky little armrests
•front end overhauled with repairs made to instrument cluster, front brake master cylinder and wiring
•remade wiring loom with custom battery box, rear wiring hidden through the frame, original airbox sourced from Canada installed
• tank and fairing hydro dipped by the guys at DipDemons in Newton Abbot! Fantastic faded effect!!
•New rear wheels sourced that properly fit with replacement tyres and custom wheel caps and new rear shocks

With a full Mot and a lot of work out in, the trike is looking and sounding amazing! one of the main issues of overheating (there were a few) was the oil cooler the original owner had fitted! Bodged together using a feed and return from an unknown bike, he ended up creating two oil feeds to the cooler...lots of pressure...zero oil circulation! Not good! 💪🏻

With the oil flowing and cooling lovely she happily maintains her operating temperature!

Unfortunately due to time restraints and with unavailable carb parts, we were unable to get her running to her true potential! We tried with what jets and needles we had available but weren’t 100% happy! Stuttering badly running rich...pulling like a train running lean! We needed an in between! Gutted we didn’t have the parts available to us to try!

However...once on a rolling road and with a bit of rejetting and tuning with replacement jets etc...she will be back ripping on the roads once more!
we can’t wait to hear how well she will perform!
...are three wheels better than two? 🧐😂💪🏻🏍💨💨💨

Unleash the beast 🏍💨💨

She came to us a year and a half ago as a rolling mess of a project, but now I am thrilled to present Sonni’s 1981 Honda Cb750 custom cafe racer! 😍 powered by the m unit blue, she is an absolute weapon on the roads, running and handling as good as she looks!
A true labour of love, we have worked closely with Sonni during the build to create a machine unique to him, whilst adding our own little touches! With the challenges we overcame and the amount of time on the build, we are thrilled and extremely proud to say she came from our hands 💪🏻🔧

•Modified 1981 cb750f frame in house, blasted and powder coated
•Ducati hypermotard single sided swingarm
•Ducati hypermotard rear wheel and shock
•Yamaha R6 front end: forks, brakes, wheel
•Yamaha R6 bottom yolk, machined to fit the cb750f headstock
•Yamaha R6 handlebars with motogadget bar end indicators, motogadget 3 button m-switches, gold piston brake reservoir, aftermarket grips and levers
•Yamaha R6 modified rearsets
•Honda VFR400 Gearchange linkage and lever
•Billet aluminium top triple clamp with motogadget motoscope mini
•cnc machined headlight brackets along with 7” led headlight
•Custom made Seat from Triplehumph

• powered by the motogadget m unit blue, using Bluetooth technology with the m.ride app, includes a range of exciting features including keyless go
•custom made wiring harness (in house) routed out of sight throughout the bike
•motogadget m button ( using can bus technology for handle bar switches )
•custom made battery box with lithium ion battery
•dynatek ignition system with rev limiter, uprated ht leads and coils, electronic pickup

Neil’s Honda Civic has been in the shop after she was constantly jumping out of gear while driving! A common fault apparantly with the civics due to certain parts inside the box failing!
We sourced a second hand gearbox and when removing the original we found the main bearing on the input shaft had failed! With this amount of play no wonder everything was jumping around!
The clutch was heavily worn too so it was replaced and the replacement gearbox installed! With everything behaving as it should on the test drive she’s back on the roads! Lovely stuff! 💪🏻🚗💨

27/12/2018

After a splendid Christmas we’re back in the shop tackling a Honda Civic which constantly popped out of gear while driving! After much investigations and the gearbox removed we discovered the main bearing on the input shaft has failed along with heavy clutch wear which we will sort at the same time!
Wiggle wiggle gearbox jiggle 😅🔧💪🏻

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
Eat all the food, drink all the booze, and enjoy yourselves! 😊🤙🏻🍻 🔧
