Wiping the windscreen with your sleeve again? There’s a button for that.

Leave the air con ON, even when it’s cold outside. It dries the air, so it helps clear the mist while the heating keeps you warm.

Airflow towards the windscreen, fan up, recirculation off. Or press the front demist button and let the car do the work.

Clean the inside of the glass with automotive glass cleaner and a clean microfibre cloth too. That greasy film might look harmless at lunchtime, but by six o’clock every oncoming headlight has its own light show.

Wait until you can see properly before setting off. Your sleeve can retire from windscreen duty.

⚠️ A272 closure coming up

A quick advance warning for anyone travelling west from Petersfield this Thursday, 24 September.

The A272 Wi******er Road at Langrish is expected to close between Bordean Lane and The Green while a pole is replaced.

The closure is scheduled from 8am until 6pm and is expected to last for one day. The official diversion runs via the A32, A27 and A3, so allow some extra time if you’re travelling that way.

Please share with anyone who regularly uses the route.

More changes coming just around the corner from us…

Work has started on a new Starbucks drive-through and Greggs at the McDonald’s and BP services by the A3, with hopes they’ll open in February.

And just like that, the summer holidays are over and the school run is back!

For plenty of us, that means the car is back to being part of the daily routine too. School drop-offs, work, clubs, shopping and everything else that somehow has to fit into the week.

The sun’s out and the bank holiday weekend is nearly here! ☀️🚗

If you’re heading off somewhere, give the car a quick once-over before you go. Check the tyres, top up the screenwash and make sure your oil and coolant levels are where they should be.

It only takes a few minutes and could save you spending part of the bank holiday waiting at the side of the road!

Here’s Chrissy making sure everything is spot on after an oil and filter change.

When it comes to engine oil, the level matters.

Too little can cause overheating, increased wear and even engine failure. Too much can damage seals and affect lubrication.

Most cars need an oil change every 12 months or around 9,000 to 12,000 miles, although short journeys, towing and stop-start driving can mean it needs changing sooner.

Check your service history and, if it’s due, give the Auto Matt team a call.
