Briggate Service Garage is closing on 20th December 2024. We would like to extend our thanks to all of our loyal customers over the years for their support, it has been a pleasure to serve everyone and Paul is now heading into a well deserved retirement. I’m sure all our customers past and present would join us in wishing Paul and his very able team all the best for whatever is next, and in extending our thanks to him for working so hard at Briggate Service Garage for the last 40 years.

We have a special anniversary at Briggate today, it is 40 years to the day since Paul first started working at the garage. This is a remarkable feat and he can be very proud of all he's achieved in that time.

Notice to customers: We will be closed Monday 19th September to observe the bank holiday for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. If you have work booked with us on that day we will be in touch to rearrange.

Good news! We will be opening the garage tomorrow morning. Obviously we will have to be implementing some different working practices so your patience and cooperation will be much appreciated. Opening hours will be 9-5 with a lunch time closure of 1-2pm. Please call during these times, if we can't answer we will call back as soon as possible. Thank you and see you soon!

Update: We are keen get back to work for the benefit of our customers and staff. Following last night's announcement we are seeking clarification on the safety of staff who have to get into various cars through the course of their working day, once we have this we will determine when and how we can resume work. Thank you for your patience and support during this difficult period.

Briggate Service Garage regret to inform our customers that to ensure the wellbeing of our staff and customers, we will be temporarily closing as of close of business on Tuesday 31st March. Until that point we are completing any prebooked essential work, but after 31st March we will not be completing any work. We are contacting any customers booked in after that point to rearrange their scheduled work.

This is only a temporary closure, we will continue to update this page to let people know when we will be open again to provide our essential service. We hope to see you all soon, please stay safe and see our previous post for the government advice on expiring MOTs:
