Another late finish today to get this Focus ST out the door!

Came in last week to be quoted, needing repair to the bumper and wing, this week it came in to have the repairs done.

A small hole in the front bumper which i plastic welded up then a small skim of dolphin glaze to make it perfectly level. The wing where the bumper meets, had a small fold which needing pulling out, and the wing was bent inwards near the door causing the door to catch on the wing, this simply just needed a minor adjustment.

I found a few door dents on the wing which werent in the original quote, but as im here i may aswell sort them! I dont like to work around extra damage which doesnt take much extra to sort!

A little flat and polish on completion and shes ready to collect. Its a shame i dont have any daylight to wash it because that would really finish this job up, but nevertheless, last job of the week ticked off ✅

This Vauxhall Astra recently went into another garage and a few defects were spotted, they apparently didnt seem interested in doing the work and threw a random cost which to anybody would sound like alot of money, “more than what the cars worth”.

My argument to this statement is if you know the car, its been good to you, and its just maintenance/wear and tear bits, then its always worth keeping rather than taking a risk buying another car for similar value which could need all this work doing anyway.

Turbo was leaking exhaust gas out the VNT arm, EGR was leaking exhaust gas out of a small hole in the side of the body, wishbone rear bushes perishing, rear discs and pads at end of life, both front tyres worn on the inner edges, exhaust flexi was deteriorated/damaged and falling apart.

New turbo ✅
New genuine downpipe with flexi ✅
New EGR valve and cleanup of the internals ✅
Two front tyres ✅
Rear discs and pads ✅
Oil and filter change ✅
Two front wishbones ✅
Engine bay hot steam clean and an exterior clean, free of charge ✨

Lots of love and attention, but now feels much more responsive, torque has a noticeable increase.

All ready for the customer collect, i do love a challenge.

Customer came in the other day for a quote to have her bumper repaired after hitting something (cant remember what she said 😂)

It had crushed the bumper and damaged the lower grill. The bumper was detached on the passenger front corner and the drivers front corner had a scrape with a slight dent into the wing.

Only real way to fix this was to get a new bumper and grill, which was priced that same day, estimate approved that night, bumper was ordered the following morning and painted before id even got the car here.

Customer came and dropped the car off the next day so i got to work stripping the old bumper and building up the new one. I then went ahead and repaired the drivers front wing and painted it, thats all the damaged fix.

But no job is complete without a good bathtime 🧽

Customer buys a new car, asks me to check it over 🫣

This car was bought recently, and a condition of the sale was that it needs to be MOT’d. It had an advisory on the inner steering rods knocking, so they opted to replace these before selling the car to this customer. Fair play…

Luckily, it was brought in to me and i was asked to look it over. Sure enough the inner steering rods were changed, but they left the old track rod ends on? And yep, you guessed it… they were both knocking 🥴😂

I also found; exhaust flexi broken away, exhaust hanger completely snapped, oil leak from rocker cover gasket, oil leak from sump pan, water pump leaking coolant, wishbone bushes separating from their seats, and a few other odd things.

No mention of any of this on the MOT, hmm, its because they needed the car to sell, and have at least one thing wrong with it so it didnt look suspicious, right? Because if it passed with no advisories, on a 13 odd year old car, you’d think you’d won the lottery.

Anyway, all this work done, car is now back with the customer, sent them away to get the wheel alignment done and it now has a clean bill of health. Some will question why spend all this money and parts on a DS3, well, simply put, the customer wanted it, i just did my job to make sure the work was done to quality standards and the car had its real defects spotted and made safe.

At the end of the day, im here to keep you safe, and on the road. Not broken down at the side of the road 👎🏻 💁🏼‍♂️

Last week i forgot to mention i had this GORGEOUS Range Rover Sport come in to have its front bumper addressed after he had some work carried out on it recently which wasnt up to scratch.

Now im a Range Rover fan, not for their publically known unreliability, but their comfort and road presence, i also find them rather pleasant to look at. Yes, im weird like that. 😒

Overspray, poor fitting, gaps everywhere, masking edges, you name it and it had it.

The customer asked to supply his own front bumper which came with grills and everything needed for the job, however it was an aftermarket kit which arrived with damage and the overall quality wasnt the best, i didnt promise him the world, only that i’d do my best with what im working with.

The bumper was prepared and painted, pretty straight forward stuff. The grills were matt black and needed to be gloss black, so i got his approval to paint them and got cracking.

For you eagle eyed viewers out there, yes, i did spot the front grill has a third parking sensor, which the customer didnt spot, however we have ordered a sensor to blank this hole to make it appear functional to resolve this issue.

Careful time and attention went into plastic welding the main grill to the bumper skin, bonding in certain trim which is meant to be bonded, and ensuring the clipped in trims are fully seated. Unfortunately due to this particular bumpers design i couldnt reuse the factory grill covers that sit behind the gloss black grills, although this is now benefitting the intercooler with extra airflow.

All in all, considering i hate using aftermarket ebay bits, it turned out better than i thought.

Fridays are always especially busy as its the last day of the week to get everything wrapped up for the weekend. I dont like to leave any work sitting around and leave people without cars.

I had Chris call me in a blind panic asking if he can get AA to tow his Juke to my shop to be looked at and sorted as and when i can, i said sure send it in.

After diagnosing, we discussed a couple of options and decided to go ahead with a new set of injectors due to injector 1 going down. He didn’t want to just chuck one injector in, or spend time having time tested and reconditioned. So for best result long term, we went with a fresh set, all coded in.

Car landed with me at 1pm, i had a paint job to finish but i also got in and cracked on with these and managed to squeeze it out before close 🤝 just in time for him to be back on the road for the weekend.

Now thats unmatched service 🙃👌

What you see - a car thats had a wash, likely cost £20 ish quid inside out, probably nipped round to the illegals for a scratch and shine, quick spray with a powerful jet wash, hand shampoo, rinse and dry. Lick of tyre shine, bobs your uncle and fannys your aunt.

What i see - 5 hours of fast paced work by one pair of hands, cheered on by the thumping bass of a speaker inside the workshop. Citrus pre wash, hot rinse, hot shampoo with wax, cold rinse, towel dried, compressed air all the nooks and gaps so no waters dripping out. Hot steam cleaned engine bay and compressed air dry down (no dressings. Raw finish). Inside hoover, G101 cleaner everywhere, Brisk fabric cleaner everywhere, leather cleaner (scrubbed HARD for ages! 🥹), leather conditioner, ivory touch up paint on the areas needed most, glass cleaned inside, dash and trim coatings, anti odour applied and air freshener added. Wheels hand washed, degreased, hot steam cleaned, hand dried, tyres shined and hand waxed. Exterior hand waxed, trims shined, glass cleaned and RainX coated.

You name it, it had it. Customers thrilled.

You cant compare the two results. As they say. You pay for what you get.

If you need a DEEP clean for a fresh start, or want to give your new purchase/ car you’re selling a boost, this small investment is a huge bang for buck 😍
