MGB Roadster. 1969.

This car came into the workshop with a fuel gauge that did not work .

Also the overdrive would not operate.

After testing the overdrive electrical circuit it was found the overdrive solenoid was faulty.

A new item was purchased and fitted.

Now operates correctly.

The fuel sender was removed from the tank.

Bench tested and found to be faulty.

A new sender unit was installed and everything is working fine.

Ford Zodiac MK2. 1960.

The next job on the list was to fit the stainless steel window trims.

This was harder than it first looks.

They need very careful bending and twisting to get them into place.

Too much force and a kink can appear in the metal.

Another job completed. 😀😀😀😀

Ford Zodiac MK2. 1960.

The first difficult job to carry out on the car was the fitting of the rear screen.

The screen rubbers are now obviously aftermarket items so not moulded like the originals from the time these cars were first built.

Fitting the rubber seal around the glass screen was a difficult job in itself.

Then trying to get the rubber seal to sit correctly over the body metal upstand was a challenge.

After a few attempts the window screen was finally in.!!

Next job was to fit the chrome surrounds.

Again a test in your patience as they have to be bonded on one piece at a time.

Finally all fitted.

But in total about four different days work to complete.

Ford Zodiac MK2. 1960.

This car was imported from Balantyre Malawi.

A gentleman spent the thick end of nearly £20,000 on the car plus restoration costs.

He pulled the plug on the project before it was finished.🙁🙁🙁

I now have the car in my workshop finishing off all of the final build up jobs.

More to follow....

Austin A35 Van 1967.

A nice job for Christmas eve.

The clutch was making some terrible noises when trying to put the vehicle in gear.

Only one thing for it...remove the engine to find out the cause.

sure enough the thrust bearing had come out of its carrier and had damaged the centre of the pressure plate.

Luckily I had a new clutch kit sitting on a shelf.

So after fitting the new clutch kit and making sure the thrust bearing was fitted nice and snug the engine could be refitted to the van.

Everything is now working fine.😀😀😀😀

Another one saved from the scrapyard.😀😀😀😀

The White example is also now finished another that had a very uncertain future.

Citroen 2 CV 1959.

It was my last day in the Dordogne France and I was looking for something to bring back on my empty trailer to the UK.

Not much luck that morning until I visited one of my regular haunts and spotted this.😀.

Luckily the paperwork was in order for the car so a deal was done.

She was loaded up and transported back to my workshop here in the UK.

I got here all cleaned up but retained that stored in a barn patina look.

A second hand roof was fitted along with some good tyres.

I soon had the engine running.

Actually if you dismiss first appearances of the light rust on the exterior panels the car was very solid and rust free.

Absolutely no rot in the usual 2CV places. 😀

As a challenge I thought I would find the roughest example out there and bring it back to life.😀😀😀😀

Triumph Herald 13/60 Convertible.

The car had not been on the road for a very long time about 20 years.

The first job was to get it into the workshop and see if the engine could be made to run properly.

It required some cylinder head work first.

19/10/2021

The Austin 8 cwt Pickup Truck hits the road.😀😀
