Tesla’s Cybercab could completely change the future of taxi travel.

The drive unit powering it is 18% smaller and 25% lighter than other leading electric vehicle drive units. It is also more efficient thanks to a simplified design and improved lubrication system.

The most impressive figure is how quickly it can be manufactured.

Tesla says a completed drive unit can leave the production line in under 10 seconds!

This highly automated process reduces labour costs, production time and inconsistencies. It could help Tesla produce the Cybercab for under the equivalent of approximately £23,000.

Combined with Tesla’s new “unboxed” manufacturing system, the Cybercab represents more than a new electric vehicle. It could introduce an entirely new way of building cars.

A UK launch date has not yet been confirmed, but robotaxi technology is already arriving on British roads.
