πŸ›‘ Do you know the difference between these two junctions?

They might look similar, but there’s an important difference that every learner driver needs to know! πŸ‘‡

πŸ›‘ STOP junction

At a STOP sign, you MUST come to a complete stop at the STOP line β€” even if you can see that the road is completely clear.

πŸš— Stop the car fully, applying the handbrake will stop you creeping forward and ensure you are completely stopped, make your observations, and only proceed when it is safe to do so.

Simply slowing down and rolling over the line isn't stopping and could result in a failed driving test!

It's a STOP junction for a reason! πŸ›‘

⬜ GIVE WAY junction
At a Give Way junction, you'll usually see the broken white lines across the road.

You don't necessarily have to stop if you can clearly see that the road is safe and the way is clear. However, you must approach with caution, make effective observations and be prepared to stop if necessary.

πŸ‘€ And this is where things can catch learners out…
The number 1 reason for failing a driving test is not making effective observations at junctions.

Don't just look once and assume it's safe. Look properly, keep checking and expect the unexpected! πŸ‘€

πŸ‘‰ STOP means STOP.
πŸ‘‰ GIVE WAY means be prepared to stop if necessary.

Knowing the difference could make all the difference on your driving test! πŸš—πŸ’¨

For anyone looking to book their driving test, the dvsa posted on their Instagram the dates that will be released tomorrow morning, 7th Sept, at 6am for 24 weeks ahead.

https://www.gov.uk/book-driving-test

Suggest that you log onto the dvsa test booking system EARLY to be in the queue, unfortunately, there will be thousands of others all trying to do the same, seriously, it's easier to get concert tickets 😳 but persevere and keep trying. There will be cancellations on the system also so keep checking throughout the week to see if you can snap anything up.

Good luck 🀞

Afternoon everyone 😊

Apologies if you have messaged over messenger and had no response. Unfortunately, the messages don't always generate a notification which is such a pain so please, if you don't receive a response within a few hours, send another and hopefully it will push through. We do try to check as often as we can but sadly it's not the best message system πŸ˜”

Thank you

🚨 THIS HAS TO STOP. NOW. 🚨

The latest craze, challenge β€” call it what you will β€” of driving the wrong way down a road absolutely has to STOP πŸ›‘

As driving instructors, our job isn't just to teach you how to pass your test. It's to teach you how to be a SAFE driver and understand the responsibility that comes with getting behind the wheel.

Honestly, who comes up with the idea of deliberately driving the wrong way down a road and thinks, β€œYeah, that's a good idea”? πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ
It genuinely beggars belief.

Lives are being lost needlessly, and families are being left devastated because of one completely senseless and utterly ridiculous decision. I'm really struggling to understand the mentality behind it, and quite honestly, it makes me incredibly sad.
Please remember that when you get behind the wheel, YOU are responsible for what that vehicle does. A car can cause devastating injuries and death in seconds.

And if you're a passenger encouraging it, filming it, laughing along with it or simply going along with it because you don't want to be the boring one β€” YOU are still choosing to be part of something incredibly dangerous.

Please, PLEASE think about what you're doing before giving in to peer pressure.

πŸ›‘ It's not cool.
πŸ›‘ It's not clever.
πŸ›‘ It's not funny.
πŸ›‘ And it's certainly not worth someone's life.

I'm sure no parent wants that knock at the door telling them their child has died because of one stupid decision.

Harsh? Maybe.
True? Absolutely.

Please stay safe out there and, most importantly, make the right choices. ❀️

πŸš— KNOW WHO IS TEACHING YOU TO DRIVE β€” AND DON'T GET RIPPED OFF! πŸš—

Unfortunately, there are people out there who will happily take your money without giving you the service you expected. When it comes to driving lessons, it really does pay to know who you're getting into the car with.
Yes, someone can legally teach you to drive if they are over 21 and have held a full licence for at least 3 years β€” but if you are PAYING for driving lessons, there are certain things you should be looking out for. πŸ‘€

🩷 PINK BADGE = TRAINEE INSTRUCTOR (PDI)
A pink licence means they are a Potential Driving Instructor who is still training and has not yet passed their final qualifying test. They are allowed to teach for payment, but their badge must be displayed in the vehicle.

πŸ’š GREEN BADGE = FULLY QUALIFIED ADI
A green badge means the instructor is an Approved Driving Instructor. The badge should be clearly displayed in the car, along with photographic identification.

πŸ’· BE CAREFUL ABOUT PAYING FOR LESSONS UP FRONT

It can be tempting to take advantage of a cheaper block-booking deal, but think carefully before handing over a large amount of money.
What happens if you don't gel with your instructor? πŸ€”

Driving lessons can be stressful enough without feeling uncomfortable with the person sitting beside you. Your instructor might have a completely different teaching style to what works for you, and that's OK β€” sometimes you simply don't click.
If you've already paid for 20, 30 or even more lessons upfront, you could then find yourself in the awkward position of trying to get your unused money back.

There can also be problems if an instructor:
❌ Stops teaching
❌ Changes their circumstances
❌ Becomes unavailable
❌ Closes their business
❌ Has a disagreement with you over a refund
❌ Refuses or delays returning money for unused lessons

Paying as you go can give you much more flexibility. πŸ‘

You can try an instructor, see whether their teaching style works for you and, if you don't feel they're the right fit, you're not left trying to recover a large amount of money you've already paid.
Of course, there are genuine instructors who offer block-booking discounts and have excellent businesses β€” this isn't about saying don't ever buy a block. It's about making sure you understand what you're paying for and what happens to your money if things don't work out.

🚘 DO YOUR RESEARCH. GO WITH RECOMMENDATIONS OF STUDENTS WHO HAVE ALREADY HAD LESSONS. CHECK THE BADGE. ASK QUESTIONS. DON'T BE AFRAID TO WALK AWAY.

Your driving lessons are an investment in your skills, your safety and your future. Make sure you're investing your money with someone you trust. ❀️
Know who is teaching you before you hand over your hard-earned money!
