Check out this all-wheel drive 1943 Volkswagen Type 87 Kommandeurswagen, up for sale for €119,500!

Built between 1941 and 1944 for the Wehrmacht, this four-wheel-drive version of the KdF-Wagen is a true piece of automotive history.

Borrowing its all-wheel-drive system and engine from the Schwimmwagen Type 166, the Type 87 was built to conquer any terrain, boasting an incredible 75% gradeability when off-road gear is engaged.

What makes this specific car so extraordinary?

• The Foundations: Painstakingly reconstructed in Norway during the late 1980s on an original all-wheel-drive chassis.

• The Authentic Details: Features wider fenders to accommodate massive 5.25-16 off-road tires, an extra 20-litre gasoline can under the front hood, a portal swing rear axle, and a large folding sunroof.

• The Restoration: Every detail, from the matte light-absorbing paint and camouflage headlights to the forced-ventilation windows, was faithfully restored with incredible effort.

• The History: Backed by full photographic documentation of its rebuild, this car spent the last 30 years cherished in a private German collection.

Who would love to add this to their garage?
