Morning everyone!

With the busy week we've just had in the garage we completely forgot to put up a post to tell everyone we are having a 2 week break! Apologies about that!

We are going to the place that created a lot of the cars we work on 🇲🇫

So, look after your cars and we will be back with a recharged bang from 4th September!

Customer complaint was the vehicle was juddering when pulling off but this was happening intermittently but now progressively getting worse.

We decided to tackle the clutch as it was due anyway, once stripped down and removed it became apparent it was an OE remanufactured clutch (had an engine from the dealership around 75-80k ago and they replaced the clutch as a goodwill gesture) Both sides of the friction plate had come loose on the rivets.

New clutch kit fitted along with fork, fork ball joint, guide tube, driveshaft seals and gear oil.

Now it drives beautifully with a really light pedal.

Another customer happy and ready to chew up the miles.

Genuine timing belt kit used. Sump removed and strainer cleaned out aswell as oil and filter changed.

Customer was passed my details and got in touch RE there van - Issue was poor running and smoking another garage had looked at it and said that a valve had burnt out because an injector was faulty. They wanted a second opinion.

Out came the picoscope to do a relative compression test before doing anything and as you can see on the waveform it clearly was down on 1 cylinder, having spoken to the customer he authorised the removal of the injectors so I could get the borescope down to investigate. All valves appeared okay apart from cylinder 3 which when the exhaust valves were open one appeared to open more than the other which pointed towards a failed rocker.

Having spoken to the customer he authorised the strip down to check. Once stripped down it was obvious that the rocker needles had failed causing the rocker roller to become stuck not allowing the exhaust valve to open fully.

8mm chain housing package fitted and now the van is back to running how it should be.

Just the MOT left to do and it will be another happy customer again ready to chew up the miles.

****DANGEROUS FAULT REPAIRED****

This was a referral from another garage, the customer was experiencing intermittent loss of brakes, which in itself is scary.

This had been to 2 other garages both of which hadn't spotted the original fault and said it required a "software update"

I always keep myself in the loop with various faults by research and speaking to other technicians.

This is one that I haven't seen in the field but have seen others experience it.

The Anti roll bar bushes are worn, allowing the anti roll bar to move across and eventually foul the brake caliper when the vehicle is turned on full lock and then it will be okay for a while and happen again.

So a genuine anti roll bar ordered and changed making the vehicle safe again and giving the customer peace of mind knowing it is now safe again.

Customer got in touch with the engine light on and smoke, aswell as the vehicle down on performance.

Plugged in fault stored for turbo underboost, so our came the smoke machine, this quickly identified a leak behind the bumper, vehicle stripped and found the intercooler split - new one sourced and vehicle back on the road.

We really appreciate your continued support and you being a part of this journey.
