🚨 This could have ended very differently. 🚨
We recently inspected a vehicle after the owner reported concerns with the way it was driving.
What we discovered was genuinely shocking.
The steering arm inserts were completely missing from the front hub assembly. These components are critical to the correct location and clamping of the steering and suspension assembly. Without them, excessive movement can occur, affecting steering precision, vehicle stability and ultimately driver control.
This wasn’t a worn-out component or an unforeseen failure. This was a basic assembly issue that should have been identified during installation and certainly during any subsequent quality control checks.
We’re not interested in naming names or criticising others for the sake of it. However, when we find workmanship that has the potential to compromise the safety of a vehicle and its occupants, we feel it’s important to highlight just how vital attention to detail really is.
What disappoints us most is that this work was carried out by a national workshop chain. Customers place their trust in recognised brands expecting repairs to be completed safely and correctly. Discovering issues like this leaves us asking how such an obvious omission passed through the workshop unchecked.
Thankfully the issue was identified before it resulted in an accident.
Quality control matters. Attention to detail matters. Vehicle safety depends on both.
