Do you own a Vauxhall / Peugeot / Citroen with the 1.2 Puretech Engine?
This is the result of timing belt degradation at only 40,000 miles.
Manufacturers interval for replacement is 62,000 miles or 6 years!
This particular customer was driving the vehicle and had “stop vehicle low oil pressure” message come up on the dash.
Luckily the car was recovered to us. Further driving could have resulted in catastrophic damage.
(We have also just had a Vauxhall Grandland customer who wasn’t so lucky and has left us having had the engine rebuilt at 62,500 miles after their belt failed completely)
If you are considering purchasing a vehicle with the wet timing belt & you are unsure if your timing belt is due or has been replaced, have it checked or replaced for peace of mind and avoid becoming stranded with a failed belt and in need of an engine rebuild.
