Italicar

Italicar Specialists in Italian cars including Alfa Romeos, Fiats, Lancias, Maseratis and more.

italicar is a small family business, run by brothers Luke and Kirk Miller. Our father managed a successful Alfa Romeo and Fiat main dealership throughout the 80s and 90s, so neither of us grew up wanting to be train-drivers! With the soundtrack of our early years provided by a symphony of Lampredi twin-cams and Busso V6s, we were powerless to escape the obsession. Our family car history reads like

a Top Trumps' pack of Italian automotive history; Alfa Romeo GTAs, 155s, Spiders, GTVs, Fiat 124s, Coupes, Barchettas, a Lancia Delta HF integrale and many, many more. Even if we weren't working with Italian cars for a living, we'd still be buying them! If you take a minute or two to check out our page here on Facebook, we're sure that you'll soon get an idea of what it is we do here at italicar!

Yesterday was one of the rare times we managed to get Bill (as you'll know him: or simply dad to us) away from the guts of a Lampredi twin-cam engine.

The special occasion? His birthday! A suitably Italophile cake was produced, which even put a smile on his face.....which is an even rarer occasion and needed to be immortalised on the internet 😂😉

🔙 Throwback Thursday - yes, we're bringing it back. We're not sorry.

From the italicar blog vault this week: our Alfa Romeo 159 Buyer's Guide, originally written in 2020. We don't see as many 159s as we once did, but having re-read this, the advice is still bang on - which is either a compliment to the writing or a damning indictment of the 159. You decide.

If you're thinking about buying one, or you already own one and want to know what might quietly plotting against you under the bonnet, give it a read.

Got to be one of a very few 1.8 16V versions in the UK. But one signed by Chris Bangle himself? Surely the only one of its kind!

Many, many moons ago we sold this Alfa Romeo 147 GTA. Fast forward to this week, and it's back with us for a checkover before the current owner lists it for sale.

Please, please, somebody else buy it quick so we can't. We don't need it, don't have time to use it...but none of that stops us wanting it back - hard!

🔍 Also check out our engine bay stickers there - still looking brand new probably 10+ years after we fitted them!

⬇️ PRICE DROP - Now just £4,450!

If you're feeling a little flat on this last bank holiday before Christmas, dreading those impending longer nights and colder mornings, what better way to keep a little sunshine in your life than buying our gorgeous Phase 3 Alfa Romeo Spider?

Price dropped this weekend to just £4,450. It's had more attention across our socials than pretty much any car in the past few years, come and see it to find out why.

Our parts section is back - and our engine bay stickers are now direct from us only.

We've been reproducing these for years. Plenty have copied them since; nobody's bettered them. Same quality, same attention to detail - the only change is where they're available to buy.

No more eBay listings and no more eBay fees means we've been able to cut prices hard. Some sets are down by nearly half! (Punto Mk1 GT / Sporting / Bertone: now £21.60 including VAT, a saving of £18.20)

Coverage runs from Fiat X1/9, 128 and Strada right through to 147 GTA, Barchetta, Uno Turbo, Delta and Abarth 695. Filter by make and model to find yours.

This is only the start. The catalogue's small today; used, NOS and refurbished parts are going up week by week, and we've got bigger plans for this section over the coming months. Worth keeping an eye on.

We've been updating and tweaking the italicar website recently, which means we've fallen upon old blog posts buried in the archive.

This one on the history of Alfa Romeo's Twin Spark engines is actually pretty good, if we do say so ourselves - which I think we can, because we genuinely have no memory of writing it. Reading it feels a bit like finding a fiver in an old coat pocket, except it's 2,600 words waffling about combustion efficiency.

Give it a read if you want to know why Alfa were fitting two spark plugs per cylinder long before it was cool. Well...maybe it was never exactly "cool" for normal people. But it was very clever.

The combined BHP count in the italicar workshop here? Approx. 46bhp.

(For the sticklers of details - these classic Fiat 500s we're working on both have the later, 126-shared engines in them. Hence the crazy power figures they're pushing 🤣).

The charm and fun count, though? Immeasurable.

Yes, we've got long term restoration projects, engine-swaps, big jobs in the workshop but sometimes, it's the little things that make a big difference.

This gorgeous Giulia Super came to us not running at all. A few hours of tinkering and fettling with the fuel lines had her back up on song. Just like that a very pretty, but very stationary, driveway ornament is transformed into a drivable classic to enjoy.

And, wow, did we enjoy the little test run we took it on. A truly superb car!
