Thank you to everyone who supported our raffle this month for the East Anglian Air Ambulance. We have drawn the winning tickets, with most people already being contacted - just two left to call.

We've had a few other donations to the cause, so will announce the total money going to the EAAA early next week!

(Many thanks to our lovely donating suppliers - All Car Components of Snetterton, Euro Car Parts and We Sell Tyres, both in Norwich.)

Thank you all again!

Just a reminder that we are selling tickets for a raffle, raising funds for the East Anglian Air Ambulance - tickets £1 a strip, will be drawn Friday this week.
Lots of great prizes - although you might have to save using the pressure washer until after the hosepipe ban!! 😂☀️
Call, email, message or pop in if you'd like to purchase some!

The amount of times we've heard "Those diagnostic scanners just tell you what to do!"

The fault codes read by the diagnostic machines are the result of something which has happened within the engine, but not necessarily the cause. We can be tracing back through dozens of fault codes to find the needle in the haystack.

Take this 2021 Range Rover, brought in to us in 'limp' mode with fault codes relating to the EGR valve, and engine inlet pressure faults.
If we went down the route of what the scanners tell us, we would be barking up the wrong tree in the wrong forest, wasting our time and costing the customer money.

After scouring the endless live data graphs for anomalies, we stumbled across the pressure sensor in the exhaust.
The 'before' graph shows a steady rise and fall when revving the engine, and even though the pressure gets up to the correct figure, it takes a long while to get there.
By pressure testing the pipe to the sensor, we found it was blocked, which was confusing the vehicles computers into thinking there was an airflow problem. If the engine can't expel the air through the exhaust, it can't draw it in through the inlet, hence the inlet pressure fault code.

The pipe was cleaned and blown through, and by the second graph, we can confirm the readings are correct, and the fix was a success💪

If you're not going to keep up with regular maintenance, it shouldn't come as a surprise when things go very wrong.

This Nissan Qashqai was dropped off as a non-runner. The customer has had the car multiple years, and has no memory of it being serviced!

It had barely any oil in the engine, and what oil it did have was very dark and dirty.
Because of this lack of oil, the timing chain had worn so much that the engine would no longer start.
Thankfully, after a new timing chain was fitted, (and an oil change!), the car was running 100x better than before.
This lucky customer definitely got away lightly, as this engine was not far from becoming so damaged it could only be scrapped.

Most of the time, when that engine light comes on, the fault is not going to be something simple.
From a mixture of luck, (some) skill, and a prayer to the car gods, we do what we can to come out on top!

This is an Audi A3 we had in for a misfire and fault codes relating to the fuel injectors.
On the surface, its looking like a costly repair; fuel injectors aren't cheap, however, once we dug a bit deeper, we found that all the injectors were fine. The fault was traced back to a wiring issue further down the engine.

It took a bit of head scratching and testing to get to this point, but a simple wiring repair was all it took to get the customer back on the road💪
