This is less of a review and more my thoughts on these tyres after a couple thousand miles! Full disclosure I got these for free but am not being paid to say anything about them👌
I have been running these on my little 390 Adventure R, I got them for an enduro weekend I had planned in wales, with the wet rocks and muddy ruts I was in need of something to give me a bit of bite in those conditions.
I started the day with a stock tyre pressure for the KTM, 32/28psi. This was a mistake, the carcass of these tyres has to handle a 300kg GS, two up with all the luggage to camp for the following month. I was using them on a 390 with a 70kg rider! I ended up dropping the rear well into the teens(this probably isn’t recommended so comes with a disclaimer) this meant the sidewall could flex a little bit to mould to the terrain underneath. Now this was the key to getting the most from this tyre, the nicely spaced knobbles gave great grip in the fast rolling/loose sections, but a side wall that’s designed to deal with much heavier loads, will never flex as much as a true enduro tyre. But let’s be honest, this isn’t designed for what I was putting it through, but it handled it extremely well and was a pleasure to ride on faster, more open, adventure bike style trails.
Now the thing that surprised me the most, when I got home it looked like the 200 miles off-road had barely touched the tread, so I left them on. I was sure an over a thousand miles on the road would be goodnight for these tyres. But no, just some slight rounding of the edges, a very well wearing tyre.
In conclusion, an adventure tyre marketed predominantly for off-road that holds up surprisingly well on the road. To expect it to flex as an enduro tyre is ludicrous, but the well spaced nobbles and softer compound tread gave the tyre enough grip to thrive on loose sections and gets you through the really rough stuff.
