💨 HOLD ON TO YOUR HATS, NORTHAMPTONSHIRE! 🎩

Storm Austen is on the way, with a Met Office yellow wind warning covering Northamptonshire on Friday 23 October, from 10am to 9pm.

🚗 Heading out? A few reminders from Driving Skills Academy:

• Reduce your speed to suit the conditions.
• Expect sudden gusts on exposed roads and when passing gaps in hedges.
• Give cyclists, motorcyclists and high-sided vehicles extra room.
• Watch for fallen branches and debris.
• Check the forecast and travel updates before setting off.

Learning to drive means learning to adapt. If windy weather makes you nervous, speak to your instructor so we can help you build confidence safely. 💙

Save this reminder and share it with someone driving tomorrow!

I honestly couldn’t recommend my instructor enough! He is one of the best driving instructors and has been so calm, patient, and supportive throughout my lessons. He has helped me improve so much with my roundabouts, bay parking, and using my signals correctly when turning. I feel much more confident in my driving because of him. He explains everything clearly, never makes me feel stressed, and is always encouraging. I’m so grateful for all his help and would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a fantastic driving instructor! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

🎉 One year qualified! Congratulations, Andy! 🚗

On 14 October 2025, Andy Farley qualified as an Approved Driving Instructor after training with us at Driving Skills Academy.

It’s a pleasure to look back at the people we’ve supported and see where their journey takes them. Andy has since gone on to work independently, and I wish him every success as he continues building his own driving instruction business. 👏

Could a career change be on the cards for you too?

Helping someone go from those nervous first lessons to driving independently is a rewarding way to earn a living. It also gives you the opportunity to build your own business and organise your working week around your commitments.

At Driving Skills Academy, we offer:

✅ A structured training programme to guide you through the ADI qualification process.

✅ Practical in-car training and online learning, helping you develop both your driving and teaching skills.

✅ Personal mentoring and feedback, including observing real lessons to help turn theory into effective teaching.

✅ The opportunity to work towards the IDEA Level 5 qualification, alongside your ADI training.

✅ Business and diary-management guidance, helping you prepare for life as a working instructor.

As an instructor trainer, I love helping people develop the confidence and skills to take this step. Andy’s anniversary is a lovely reminder of where that journey can lead. 💙

Congratulations, Andy. Proud to have played a part in your journey!

🎉 TWO YEARS QUALIFIED. PLENTY TO CELEBRATE! 🚗🎂

A huge congratulations to Gary Desborough, who is celebrating two years as a fully qualified Approved Driving Instructor!

After years working in mobile-home construction, Gary decided it was time for a change. He trained with Driving Skills Academy and passed his final instructor qualifying test on his first attempt. 👏

Since then, he’s become known for his calm manner, patience and clear explanations, helping learners turn those first-lesson nerves into confidence and independence.

Our records now show 64 learners have passed with Gary, with plenty of lovely reviews recognising the difference he’s made. 💙

We couldn’t let this milestone pass without a cake, a candle and a very fetching “2” badge! 😂🎂

Gary, thank you for your hard work and everything you bring to the Driving Skills Academy team. Here’s to many more years and happy learners!
