Recent brake job repair; 2016 Mercedes CLS came in to us with a brake vibration through the pedal only and felt through the car on road test.

First part is to find which brake disc is causing this vibration, we use a run out tool on each brake disc to identify which one is causing this problem.

Test revealed that both the drivers side brake discs were causing the vibrations.

Next step is to replace all of the brakes, but we don’t just “fit brakes”

We thoroughly clean calipers, brake pad carriers, and hub faces, we then use the correct torque settings for each individual bolt, why do we do this, because making sure every single item that is connected with the braking system gets replaced & cleaned will ensure that the new brakes will work efficiently and as intended.

Chassis Ear used today for diagnosis on a noise coming from the front of a BMW 335d.

On road test there was virtually no noise, only a slight rotational noise at 30mph, increased speed to 50mph and noise disappeared, making it near impossible to accurately identify where and which side it was coming.

Using the Chassis Ear, it helped identify where the noise was coming from, I simply attached 1 transmitter to each lower suspension arm and carried out a small road test.

As you can see from the small video clip the noise was generated by transmitter 2, at 50mph the receiver was able to detect the noise.

Test completed ✔️

Diagnosing this issue without Chassis Ear would have been a little more complicated, probably costing the customer unwanted parts.

Passenger front wheel bearing was a fault.

New piece of kit just arrived!

This electronic wireless chassis ear will allow us to identify noises from steering, suspension, or any external parts when it becomes difficult to properly diagnose, nothing worse than replacing a part and not actually finding the solution.

How it works, you attach one transmitter to each corner of the suspension then use a clamp to attach it to moving parts and watch the signal, the greater the signal will allow us to correctly identify the issue.

You have a noise coming from your vehicle and can’t seem to find it, then maybe we can help using modern equipment to diagnose.

If you’re fussy about your alloy wheels then we have the solution!

Our tyre machine is designed in such a way that no damage can be caused to the alloy wheel.

Centre lock clamp instead of air assisted jaws that can mark wheels.

Air operated bead breaker, allows bead breaking without damage.

Lever less design for safe removal of the tyre.

Attached are some video clips of how the machine works and shows the careful removal process.

We also remove all old glue before we balance wheels using stick on weights.

Been a busy September so far…… Range Rover Evoque’s seem to be very troublesome, we’ve had a couple in with timing chain issues, one with only 40k on the clock and was noisy, the other one had a chain completely fail while driving, without any warning at all ( no chain rattle )
Luckily it didn’t damage any internal components after a cylinder leak test. 🙏🏼
Very expensive repairs, and probably could have been saved if the oil change intervals weren’t left so long.
I would recommend having the oil replaced every 7k in these engines.
Oil change is key to keeping your engine in good condition, we always recommend using a Forte engine oil flush with every oil change 🙏🏼

2026 has been a busy year, certainly a highlight getting this Lamborghini fixed and back to it’s owner oil leak free.
Rear main oil seal was the issue.
Several hours of labour, care and precision went into this job.
Certainly not the usual type of car we see in the workshop, but we felt confident enough that we could get it fixed and back on the road.
One happy customer and a happy AB Autos 😊
