Muddy Mechanics offer a mobile vehicle repair service within the North East of England. We are based in north shields but we cover a 40 mile radius. Over the weekend we were called out to a local car dealer as one of his cars had a problem. When we got there it was diagnosed as the clutch master cylinder at fault. This was causing the clutch pedal to stick down intermittently preventing the car from being driven. We removed the old master cylinder and replaced with a new part, bled the system and test drove the vehicle which was now working perfectly.

We received a phone call to say that a customers heating had gone off and the fans had stopped working. We carried out a diagnostic inspection and found the heater blower resistor as shown below. The job of the resistor is to control the speed of the fan. We also removed the fan which we bench tested and was found to also not be working. We fitted a new resistor, fan and carried out a wiring repair with a new plug and the system was fully working again.

A common fault with diesel engines is the injector seal leaking and causing carbon build up around the injector. It can also cause a fuel smell coming through into the cab of the car. If your experiencing fuel smells or have noticed carbon build up then your engine could need new injector seals fitted.

Has the heating in your car gone cold or not heating up properly! This could be down to the heater matrix like this one which was blocked and not allowing the flow of coolant through it, resulting in no heat coming through into the vehicle. We removed the blocked matrix and replaced it with a brand new one, bled the cooling system and the heating was now working perfectly in the car.

Yesterday we were up in Morpeth with this 2025 MAN TGE LWB van to fit a rear mounted Maxxfan and dual rear LED spotlights. The van is coming back to us to have the rest of the conversion done into a working dog van (so keep an eye out for further updates on this build). The van has been planned out by the customer and we will turn the plans into a fully working van for them.
