Driving tests will restart in England and Wales from 22 April.

Because there is now such a huge wait for the practical driving test I thought I would post a link to the Top 10 Reasons for failing your driving test!
Practise makes perfect!
Happy Motoring :)

The top 10 reasons people fail the driving test

This is to help learners understand the common faults and knowledge and skills they need to work on to pass first time.

This includes tips for learners to improve their driving to avoid these mistakes.

We’re also encouraging learners to practise driving on a variety of roads and in different conditions, so they are better prepared for their test.

The following came out today in a DVSA email. This is something that everyone needs to take note of, and should not miss!

As part of our normal ID and eligibility checks our driving examiners are checking for valid theory test certificates.

If your pupil does not have a valid certificate the test will not go ahead.
If your pupil has lost or damaged their certificate they can apply for a replacement letter by contacting [email protected]. They’ll need to provide their:

• name
• address
• date of birth
• driving licence number

FYI
Theory tests cancelled until 8 May 2020
Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, from Monday 20 April 2020, all theory tests have been cancelled until Friday 8 May 2020.

What DVSA is doing

We are emailing anyone with a test booked during this time to let them know their test has been cancelled and that they will be automatically refunded.

A theory testing service will still be available to those who have a critical need to take a test, such as NHS and front line workers.

Please do not call our customer service centre as they will not be able to help. Stay up to date on the latest information on GOV.UK.

We will be monitoring the situation and we will let you know if we need to cancel any more tests.

FYI

As well as the DVSA closing bookings for theory & practical tests, DVLA are also no longer accepting new applications for provisional driving licences.

Despite the centres being closed, third party sites on the internet are still offering to book tests or apply for provisional licences on your behalf, for a fee………
The third party sites cannot actually process the bookings or applications until DVSA/DVLA reopen and there does not seem to be any notification on these third party sites to tell applicants that DVSA/DVLA are currently closed; reports are coming through that they are continuing to accept applications and take money to do this.
Please make sure you use the Government website for all bookings.

Vehicle owners will be granted a six-month exemption from MOT testing, the government announced today. This will enable people to continue to travel to work where this absolutely cannot be done from home, or shop for necessities. DVSA Guidance
Coronavirus: driving tests and theory tests
Theory tests are suspended for one month, and driving tests are suspended for up to 3 months due to coronavirus - but tests are available for critical workers.

Theory tests
Theory tests are suspended up to and including 20 April 2020.

You’ll get an email to tell you that your test has been cancelled.

You’ll automatically get a refund. You’ll get an email to confirm this has been done - this may take a few weeks to arrive.

You’ll then have to book a new theory test for a date and time after 20 April 2020 that suits you.

Driving tests
Driving tests are suspended for up to 3 months.

Car driving tests
You’ll get an email to tell you when your car driving test has been rebooked. It will tell you the new date and time of your test.

You will not get this email immediately - it should arrive around 2 weeks before your original test date.

It’s likely that your new test date will be around 3 months after your original date.

If you want to cancel your car driving test
You can cancel your test if you want to get a full refund now. Email the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) to request this.

You need to include your full name and 2 of the following pieces of information:

your driving licence number
your theory test pass certificate number
your driving test booking reference
