2016 VW Polo in from a trade customer

❗️Customer complaint, engine misfire/poor running since cambelt change...

💭 Diagnosis... Special tool not used to check engine timing

✅️ Soultion, Adjust engine timing using the official VW special tool

Using the good old fashioned way of tippex (see pic) is just a no go on these... to be fair we have found if you use the correct tools to lock the engine and the camshafts do not move timing is generally within manufacturer's tolerance but on this occasion unfortunately both camshafts were out of spec, more so the Exhaust camshafts (seen with the red anw)

Manufactures specifications for this engine are...

Exhaust camshaft +1° with a tolerance of 1.5° either way

Inlet camshaft -1.5° with a tolerance of 1.5° either way

All adjusted to be within specifications, now the car is back running how it should be!

The tolerance on these engines is so fine that it's crucial to check and adjust using the correct tooling 🔧
