And I'm back at the Isle of Wight Festival site for my 10th year in a row as an on-site mechanic!

I’ll be helping where needed , for traders and general public all weekend.

And for the second year I’m also driving for the festival’s accessibility team—helping everyone get where they need. If you see me or the van give me a wave—I’m on site every day from 8am until midnight at least

Today I fitted a brand-new turbo (not reconditioned) on a Hyundai i800, along with new oil lines and a full service—all carried out at the customer’s home for their convenience.

I also diagnosed an Audi A4 this morning, also for a turbo replacement—so it seems today is a turbo day.

Mobile work is my specialty, but don’t forget—we’ve got the workshop for bigger jobs.

"Another successful job today!

Thursday, June 11th—this Vauxhall Vivaro was diagnosed by the AA on the mainland with a failed alternator.
The book time for this job was 2 to 3 hours, but from turning up, fitting the alternator, and leaving, it was just 50 minutes!
On top of that, I noticed a coolant leak. The customer had a radiator replaced recently by another garage, but the hose wasn’t fitted correctly. I adjusted it, curing the leak.

And as a side note if it’s one of the earlier Vivaro models—like the Mark 1—I can do an alternator in under 30 minutes. Book times are not everything—efficient service every time!"

One of today’s job's:

BMW i3 wing mirror replacement!
This was actually a very stressful job—i had to be super careful not to scratch the outer door skin or break the trim across the top. I removed both the inner door card and outer door skin. The clips can break easily since they have internal teeth, but i gently closed them up to reuse them—no need for a BMW return trip! So, if you need delicate work, I’m your guy—but if you just need something hit with a hammer, I can do that too!

"Business isn't all about work—this weekend, I took a break to enjoy the drive! I was at JDM Coombe at Castle Combe circuit , with some friends.
It was awesome seeing all the cars I’ve worked on out in convoy—

Sammy's yellow Peril FTO that we did drive shafts , suspension and some brake work on.
Rollo's green FTO that I did a lot of welding and suspension work and big brakes conversion.
Monty's Subaru with a new engine and clutch kit.
Rhys's Mazda MPS with all the suspension work and new wheels.
Jamie’s Celica rally car replica that we have rebuilt over the past few winters and of course,
my Pulsar Gti-R that has been in my life for 24 years which I finally got on the road and running after it's breakdown last year . From Cheddar Gorge to the track—balance is key! "

Fridays job was pull the gearbox off this Citroen DS3

Customer complaint was a high clutch pedal and noises when driving

New 3 piece clutch kit fitted , new dual mass flywheel and a new rear engine mount .

All back together and dropped back to the customer this evening .

Me and me littlest one Holly (she's not very little anymore though at 23 lol) did part of walk the wight .

Carrisbrooke business park to the needles and not only did we do it, in my eyes we smashed it
Not one walker overtook us , on the hills we monstered up them passing an awful lot of people and reached the needles in 4hrs 25min with 2 x 10 min breaks .

So proud of you Holly Sills

Was quite windy and raining when we got to the needles which was actually nice .

Last year we did the flat walk , next year it's the full walk apparently

This job would’ve been a real headache without the right specialist tool.
But as we had it, it was a breeze—the tool pulled the bearing out with relative ease then swap a few parts around and it seated it back in with perfect precision.
