Cursing handlebar update....
The Indian came in for 14" rise bars (4" higher than stock) front and rear crashbar fitment, some adjustable pillion footpeg mounts, all supplied by the owner..
He assured me the stock wiring, front brake and clutch lines were all long enough...
Wiring.. probably enough for 16" rise
Brake hose, just about ok for 14"
Clutch cable works with a re-route but it gets tight on full right fork lock
The slots for the TBW on the new bars were poorly done and also the distance between the switch block pin location hole to the end of bar was 5mm off, this caused some f**kery, the throttle grip would pop off the end drive after a few twists,I resolved this with some "custom adjustment"
Rear Mr Ching crash bars went on easy enough, quality is ok,came with correct fasteners
Front, origin unknown but prob Mr Ching,no fasteners included, very heavy part, fitted well
I had a 1942 Indian before I had a HD,I've only ever worked on pre 1950 Indians and when I've seen the new era models,I've often passed them by as "Fakes" but looking around this and my pals 101,they are miles apart in fit and finish, paint and detailing, general build quality is so much better than current Harleys,if I had the wedge,I'd be seriously looking at the Indian range.
If you own or have owned a modern era Indian, comment, tell me the good and the bad of your ownership
Last pic,my 42 741B Ex Military, reliable as the path of the sun..
