This video shows what a transformation can be achieved by restoration of the existing leather and vinyl in a in a 1991 Porsche 911. This beautiful Porsche 964 came in for full restoration of its Linen vinyl and leather.

The coating on the leather had worn away and the leather had split into a couple of holes on the usual place, the drivers bolster.

To restore the leather I use (and have for 15 years) the professional restoration process (detailed on my website - www.leather-restoration.co.uk). This involves chemically stripping of the old degraded linen colourant and then repairing any damage and preparing the leather for its new coatings.

The final stage is the same as all manufacturers have used since the late 1970's which is 4 fine layers of leather colourant and then 4 fine layers of clear leather sealant. Although from my experience manufacturers are putting less fine layers onto leather in the 2020's.

This takes the interior back to a near new condition just like it was when it came out of the factory.

For the vinyl I used a very stringent chemical to remove the engrained dirt and the top layer of degraded colour of the plastic. It it then dressed with a specialist vinyl dressing. This rejuvenates the vinyl to near new condition. Small bits of damage on the vinyl (common on the centre console and B pillars etc) can be repaired.

The overall result is a transformation of a tired, dirty and damaged interior, to a near new interior, a place you want to be.

So you've had your Porsche 911 964 mechanicals sorted out, the paint work has been attended to. You know what's letting it down : the interior.....

Often the last thing to be considered, but it can make a huge difference to the enjoyment of your beautiful Porsche.

This 964 came into my workshop for a full interior restoration, the existing leather and vinyl was fully restored and the worn out carpets were replaced.

The transformation was complete. You can see this on a couple of short reels on my you tube channel (Porsche playlist) as well as 70+ other Porsche restorations I've completed, I've been doing this for 15+ years.

This Porsche 911 964 (1991) came into the workshop for a full interior restoration. The Linen carpet was too dirty and worn out for a deep clean. The owner opted to replace it with a period correct OEM quality 4KV blue carpet set, a popular upgrade I've completed many times before.

A mention on his video is very gracious, have a look at the Porsche 993 Marble grey leather restoration. As its a turbo it has a full leather interior, all was restored (apart from new purchased items) back to near new condition.

Its a lovely place to be now ...

What's not to like a beautiful Porsche 911 996 Turbo with Metropole blue interior ? Well This interior had the front seats half overpainted in sticky horrible black "leather restoration". Some of the worst work I've ever seen !

Well after a professional leather restoration I'm please to say they are now looking like they have just came out of Zuffenhausen back in 2001.

I recently completed a full original leather interior restoration on this rare and beautiful 1953 R-Type .

After a full interior inspection and discussion(s) with the owner (who wanted to retain the original interior) we agreed to save the interior and return it back to how it should be. Being great quality the original leather restored back to near new condition.

Myself and the owner were very pleased with the results, with the interior looking how it should be and not appearing restored. The existing creases and patina were retained, however the leather was chemically strengthened and repaired to ensure it will last for many more years of use.

This classic 911 993 came in for the usual wear on its Classic Grey Interior.

All the leather was restored back to its original colour (after damage repair) and all the vinyl was deep chemical cleaned back to near new condition.

I often get asked : "Can Porsche 964 / 993 vinyl be restored" ? Yes it can, with the use of a specialist astringent chemical the vinyl can be cleaned back to near new condition. Well I’ve seen some things in restoring car leather in the last 15yrs. This recently purchased 911 996 came in for inspection. The seller had made a point of mentioning the “leather restoration” in the sale.

The code on the car indicated a Metropole blue interior. The seats had been very poorly overpainted in black, well the fronts of the seats only !

Needless to say they require full restoration using the professional process (detailed on my website) to get them back to how they should be in Metropole blue with a clear satin finish.

I’ll post the results when completed.

What a crime, a lovely Porsche spoilt, some one did this and then charged for it !
